Red Bumpy Rash - Not Sure What to Do

I would try two things - it could be a yeast infection which you can just buy OTC yeast infection cream and rub it on the affected area. Typically I put Triple Paste over the cream to seal the rash from the acid in their urine. Change diapers frequently, let them air dry their bottoms, and make sure after bath that their bottom is very dry. Good luck!

My little girl just went through this and had a diaper rash with a yeast infection. My doctor told me to use over the counter Lotrimin. It worked like a charm. After 4 days of a bad rash the lotrimin had it cleared up in 2 days. Take her to the doctor to make sure that it's nothing else though.

Could be a yeast infections, my little girls would get them if they drand too much apple juice. cut off the apple juice and see if that helps.

My daughter is also 18 months old and she has had this exact same rash that you are describing. It sounds like it could be a yeat infection. Ava has had 2 of them but her last one was quite some time ago. My pedi prescribed her vusion and its around $40 but its so worth it. You will need to let her air dry out and after she gets through wtih a bath try getting a blow dryer and set it on cool and gently use the blow dryer. It sounds odd but it really does work. That is what my pedi suggested and its worked. When you let her run around definitely be careful as ther have been accidents but you just clean it up and go on. I'm not sure what type of ointment you are using but you might consider getting some diaper cream with zinc, my personal fav that i found to work the most effective is the Target brand diaper cream with zinc. Its in a blue tube and it works fabulous. You also might get Johnson's and Johnson's baby powder with corn starch or if you already have corn starch just use that. The corn starch helps her stay dry longer. When Ava got her first yeast infection i was horrified, i didnt realize at such a young age she could get one. Its not anything that you are doing, sometimes bacteria likes to grown in damp places. Just keep doing what you are doing and she will be ok. BUt definitely take her in to the pedi bc it sounds like she has a yeast infection.THe vusion clears up in no time. Even though seh has not had any diaper or yeast infections i still use the baby powder on her to prevent it from happeneing and let her run around for about 4 to 8 minutes with out anything. good luck!! Oddly enough... My 6 month old son got this too. He had a yeast infection from some medicine he had been taking. The best thing in the world for it is powder with cornstarch. The ointment does seem to make it much worse.. once we got it under control we used the Dr Smiths diaper rash cream and it vanished! I love that stuff... My doctor told us to use just some normal over the counter yeast infection cream...That works awesome too! Good Luck! Sounds like a diaper rash with yeast infection involvement. You'll have to have a prescription ointment to treat it. It can happen to boys also. I'd go see your pediatrician.

Sounds like the yeast infection my daughter had at about the same age. Take her to the doctor asap, as it will likely only get worse until it is treated. We used a prescription powder that worked quickly & was very soothing.
You can get "butt paste" at WalMart, (you need to ask the pharmasist for it.) It works quite well too, but it sounds like your daughter is already past the point of this.

I agree with the other moms that said it sounds like a yeast infection. I would take her to the doctor to make sure. The pediatrician can prescribe some nystatin cream, and it only costs like three dollars. It will clear the infection up within a day or two.

Advice 1 - take her to a doctor soon. Advice 2 - my daughter had Roseola as an infant, which started with a severe fever (enough to take her to ER) and in a few days the fever was followed by a red rash that appeared but it was mostly on her trunk. I'm not a doctor, this just reminded me of what we experienced.

Your dg may have a diaper rash. My son had a bad case of diaper rash that would spread to his bottom and sometimes his thighs. My sister-in-law recommended "Aquaphor Advanced Healing Ointment". It looks like Vaseline but it worked for me really well. The regular ointments would make my ds howl like a banshee and irritate the areas even more. Thankfully he was just fine with this ointment. Change wet diapers often. Make sure her bottom is dry (pat dry, don't rub) and use a hair dryer on the area for 5-10 mins every once in a while when the areas seem more irritated. Then apply a very generous amount of aquaphor in the irritated areas. You want a good barrier b/t your dg's bottom and the stool and urine. You should see a difference in a day. The aquaphor can be used to help treat diaper rash and dry cracked skin. I also used it to help with teething. I applied a thin layer to my son's face to protect him skin from breakouts b/c of his teething drooling problem. Watch the rash b/c it could also be a yeast infection which girls are more prone to have. If baby develops a fever, or several days of home treatments have no effect, or shows blisters, pus-filled pimples, oozing yellow patches, or open sores take her to your doctor. She may need to be prescribed antifungal medication. I hope this helps and good luck with your daughter.

If she's had a rash for more than 2-3 days... it's doctor time!! Call & get her in tomorrow, don't keep trying what hasn't worked. But anytime a rash starts in that AREA, double the daily water intake in place of part of her milk and/or juices. A day or two is not going to hurt her nutrient intake.ask the dr. about that when she is seen. Good Luck!

i have three girls and all three have had issues with this. it's more than likely a yeast rash. it's aggravated by moisture so letting it air out is good. it can be treated with Lotramin cream. ask your doctor if you need assurance on this but it's what my ped recommended with my first. Lotramin is very expensive so i buy the walmart brand (equate) or walgreens brand. the walmart brand one a white tube with orange and gray writing. you'll find both brands of this cream (it's an antifungal cream). ask the pharmacist where to find it in the store if you have trouble. good luck. If she drinks a lot of apple or acidic juice, it could be that she is sitting in her peepee too long. She may just be one of those kids that has to be changed immediately.
It could also be yeast. I'd have the pedi check it.

Diaper rashes can sometimes be caused by a bacterial or yeast infection. I would take her to the pediatrician. She might need a prescription cream.
