Hi there Mommies. I am making pumpkin seeds and I wonder if any one else has my same problem?
It says to wash them well and dry them between paper towels. So, I washed them yesterday and let them dry over night between paper towels and now they are all stuck to the paper towels? How do I prevent that...it happens to me every year! It's so annoying peeling the seeds from the paper towels! Am I just crazy...am I doing something wrong.
i carved pumpkins tonight... and i seperated them from all the stuff inside the pumpkin, rinsed them and the sprinkled them with salt and now there drying... :]... it was easy.

I stopped doing the papertowel thing! It was so annoying! I looked it up on-line and couldn't find a good reason for it.
So, I just rinse and then lay them out on the baking sheet and bake.

I finally got a GREAT recipe this year from friends of ours we carved pumpkins with over the weekend.
- Rinse them in a colander to get rid o'the slime
- Soak in saltwater overnight (lots and lots of salt)
- Drain into a collander & rinse briefly.
- Place on baking sheet
- Sprinkle with salt (& spices...optional)
(They sometimes use cumin, curries, italian herbs, or just plain old kosher salt)
- Bake
I think when I did it before, I just washed them, then put them out on a baking sheet- when you put them in the oven- they dry! Try that! Yes, I don't think there is any way around the paper towel sticking. Maybe try parchment paper. Good luck!
I also did the paper towel thing a few years ago and ended up throwing all the seeds away! The next year I just rinsed them in the collander and left them in there to dry overnight. I baked them as usual the next day and they were fine!
