What are some good places to go to preschool? I would like to send my little girl somewhere that is half a day and not over priced! Some place she can get an excited teacher who will make learning fun and someone who likes their job. I want my daughter to have fun but to really learn a lot and to learn how to read more than anything. I work with her at home but I know she would listen with someone else better. Please help!!1

What can I do next?

WFISD offers preschool through the headstart program at Lamar - off of Sunnyside drive, behind the Loves Truckstop. There's also one at Shep Elementary - on the base. You have to qualify for Lamar income wise, and I think you have to be military for the other, but it's a good program, and the teachers there enjoy the kids - the kids also enjoy the teachers. Children can go half day or full day, and it's free. Head start also has a program on 5th street (across from Denver school and the blood bank).

King's Kids in Iowa Park is my absolute all time favorite private preschool in the history of the world. They offer a 2 hour preschool program (10-12, I think) for $75/month. My son was at King's Kids while he was 2 and 3 and went to Kidwell's preschool knowing his entire alphabet, colors, numbers to 10 - they helped a lot with impulse control, too.

Wichita Christian has an excellent reputation - I think full time there is $300 / month. Not sure how much 1/2 time is. Bright Ideas is also $300 / month for pre k - but I've heard some things about them that make me wonder.. i.e. 3rd graders doing plays on polygamy.. about what they're trying to teach.

I sent my 3 year old little girl to Wichita Christian. They offer half day, but the cost to send her full day just made more sense for us. She loved it. The classes are smaller and she loved her teacher. We now live in Poland, and she still talks about her teacher.

I can tell you that School for Little People does have a half day program and they have great teachers. Some of the teachers are Texas Certified and quit public schools to stay home with their children. The website is http://www.fumcwf.org/ You may have to click on children and then click on the icon School for Little People to get to the preschool part. If you have any questions about Preschool in Public Schools feel free to message me. I teach Pre-K at Lamar and my son has attended Pre-K in the district as well. Good Luck with your search and I hope this helps!

Hello J.,
Notre Dame Preschool is soooo great. I am a teacher there and I truly believe we have the BEST Preschool teachers in the city. They use no louder than a whisper voice, and the children respond to that. Our preschool teacher's mother is gravely ill and I believe that she is not coming back. If they hire a lady who I think they are going to hire, who subbed for her at the end of this past year....well, there is NO BETTER and KINDER person in the state of Texas. She is truly gifted with preschool age....sweetness galore, yet they LISTEN to her. Mrs. Potts, our 5k teacher, is young and another GIFTED teacher. I have NEVER heard her raise her voice. I believe she is the best 5k teacher in town. No one could convince me otherwise. Do call the school at ###-###-####. God bless, M.
