Hello. I am new to Mamasource, but have heard great things about this site. I am hoping you can give me some advice on where to send my son to preschool. We are new Elmhurst and I haven't heard much about the preschools here. Because we are new to the area, I also haven't met too many moms to give me a recomendation. The only thing I've seen on some of the websites is that registration is starting now for some places. Can you suggest a preschool for us?
Thanks

Hi,

Sunbeams and Rainbows (preschool thru the park district) is wonderful. My son went there for the 3 yr old program and is now in the 4 yr old program. Sunbeams and Rainbows has many locations - Eldridge Park, Butterfield Park, Wagner Center, Wilder Park etc.
My daughter goes to Buttons and Bows which is also great. She is in the 2 yr old program currently.

Both pre-schools are wonderful.

Good luck,
Aarti

Hi S.,

I recently moved to Elmhurst also. I have an almost 2 yr old boy and 3 and a half yr old girl who will be in the Sunbeams and Rainbows preschool starting in Jan. There is spots open at the Crestview and Eldridge Park. I have to wait to speak to Marianne next week so that I can go and sit at both sites and make my decision. I have heard great things about this preschool and they fill up fast. Also, if your child is enrolled as a 3 yr old, they get priority when registering for 4 yr old preschool. I live just down the street from Berens Park so this is my no. 1 choice.

Would love to meet other great moms in Elmhurst so let me know if you would like to do a playdate sometime. I think Beren's Park would be great place as they have open gym for the winter months and it is only $5 for residents.

Good Luck with preschool!
B.

Hello,

My children went to a preschool in Elmhurt it is called Timothy Christian Academy west of York on Butterfield Road. There are very nice teachers, very patient and kind, just wonderful with the children. I highly recommend them. Hope it works out for you!

My daughter is in her second year at Buttons & Bows. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the teachers and the program. Not only do they do great crafts, but in the 4 year old program they are also really focusing on learning and writing letters. Registration starts soon and fills up quickly so I would definitely get an application if interested. You can also go there one day to observe a classroom before you make your decision.

I grew up in Elmhurst and I went to TreeTowns. A friend of mine who moved back to Elmhurst sent/sends her kids there too. I know I had a different teacher, but my friend has been happy with the program.

I send my kids to the ELmhurst Christian Reformed church's program (Little Lambs), it's only 2 hrs once a week but it's fabulous and only $40 a semester...it may just be a suppplement depending on what you are looking for, plus they offer MOPS (Mother's of preschoolers w/ childcare provided twice a month)!
