Hi Mommas!

I hoping that you can help me. I am 34 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy and my breasts (particularly my right) seem to be leaking already and to what I would consider an extreme. In fact, my right breast hurts all of the time unless I express it. Has anyone else encountered this? Should I be pumping already?

Any and all suggestions/ comments are helpful. Thanks, in advance.
N.

Some people just leak a lot more than others, I had a friend that was the same way. I would avoid pumping because it will cause your breasts to produce more milk. I disagree that it would send you into pre-term labor though. It's no different that breastfeeding while pregnant. It wouldn't work to put you into labor unless you were already close.

For peace of mind, I would talk to your doctor, but you just seem like an awesome, pregnant mother! Besides, you might deliver early.

i had the same problem with my last pregnancy. she is four months old now.:) Don't worry about it just wear breast pads. Don't pump because it can send you into preterm labor because it makes you contract sometimes to much and it can be dangerous to the baby.

Hi,
I am a labor and delivery nurse and you should defiantly not pump when you are 34 wks. Pumping and nursing releases oxytocin which is basically what they use when they induce labor.(obviously a synthetic form of the hormone). So if you would do that you would cause yourself to have contractions and you don't want that yet. Your baby's lungs are not mature until 36-37 wks. My breasts leaked with my first one every morning and what I would do is in the shower just run warm water over them and that helped. Expressing it will just make you produce more and it will be a never ending cycle. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi N.

I have a three year old boy as well and I am due at the end of January. I have had pain in my right breast, swelling and pains in my right leg and bleeding gums on on my right side for quite a while now. My doctors said that the uterus tends to shift more to the right and it normal to experience this stuff on the right side of your body. Its strange to me because it didn't happen with my first but it will all be over soon! Good luck.
