Hey Mama's, I am 35 1/2 years old and 10 weeks pregnant with my third. It has been three years since my last pregnancy and my body certainly is not handling this one all that well. Friday night I took my three dogs on about a 40 min walk. Ever since then my body/muscles/joints ache. Oddly enough my wrists hurt and my fingers are swollen to the point that I can't get my rings off. I only weigh about 120lbs and being only 10 weeks pregnant I know I am not taking on water weight. For you mama's that were my age with pregnancy's do you recall your body going through this? I am about to call our family Doc just to get his thoughts but my body just aches and I really don't know why. I have tried Ibuprofen, stretching, but this body ache is killing me. Am I really that much older that my body just can't handle my normal day to day's? Certainly I am fatigued but for me that is normal for the first trimester. Maybe I just needed to complain to someone other than my husband :) Just didn't know if anyone had any home remedies for body aches. Wish I could get more specific as to what it feels like but that is the best I can come up with. Happy New Year!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies, I appreciate the advice. I am going to call the Family Doc today just to see what his thoughts are. I was thinking an infection of some kind to because last night I got home from work and could barely lift my right arm without it being very painful. Not sure what is going on but my body is just not where it needs to be :) I will definatly take on the warm baths and herbal teas and hope that helps. Thanks again!

I'm 37 and have a 10 week old (my third) and I have to say that it was by far my easiest and best pregnancy and delivery. I wasn't able to exercise like I did even before I got pregnant - in other words, I could't carry on the exercise I was used to - so I just slowed down a bit, tried to stay as active as I could. I took a lot of epson salt baths when I overdid it. Hang in there!!

I am 36 and 32 weeks pregnant with number 3. I felt great during my first and second trimester, besides the heartburn, but this third trimester has been tough. I am exhausted, heartburn is worse than ever and I feel like the slighted bit of exertion brings on Braxton Hicks contractions. I was 29 and 31 with my last two pregnancies and feel that age is playing a part. I find that baths, yoga and warm milk seem to make it all a bit easier. Good Luck!

I think it's time to call the Dr. Sometimes infections cause body aches and pains as you describe. Please don't take anymore ibuprofen or herbal supplements until you see your Dr. You may take Extra Strength Tylenol until you are seen as motrin is a prostaglandin inhibitor and may have increased risk if taken during pregnancy. It pays to be cautious when pregnant. Best wishes! Nurse Midwife Mom

I had my 3rd at 38 and it was my hardest pg. I just tried to take it easy. I complained too much and my DH did not like it.

There is a homeopathic remedy that is supposed to be safe in pregnancy and it's anti-inflammatory called Arnica. Try that. Also, I received chiropractic while preggy--I am 34 and just had #2 a year ago. Wish I had done it with #1! It's fabulous for a pregnant body and supposedly helps get the baby in the right position as well. Might even help the inflammation. Starting to regularly drink some 'safe for pregnancy' herbal teas could also help bring down your inflammation issue.

Also, do some foods you eat tend to cause you more inflammation that others? For me it's dairy although my body tolerates it more when I'm pregnant since you need so much protein and calories for baby.
