i've been googling jobs, rental places, etc for the last hour and i haven't been able to come up w/anything. kinda going in circles. in texas, i know what websites to go (i.e. for state jobs), but doesn't seem to be the same situation up there. i did try the nationwide ones like yahoo jobs & aol jobs but didn't find anything i could live on up there ($15/hr, which is what i make here and living paycheck to paycheck!).
hoping there's some CT moms on here who could lend a hand re: resources and some direction.
any ideas??? i'm not in a rush or anything, but would like to get an idea if this move is even a possibily for my DS and me.
thanks. :)

What can I do next?

A word of warning- CT is obscenely expensive. Housing is at an ultra premium.

With regards for job searching, I would go to Fortune.com, search for companies headquartered in CT in the Fortune 500 or 1000 range, and then use the sites individually. Fewer major companies are using the job boards because of general scarcity of open roles.

Also, make sure you have a LinkedIn profile with as many connections as you can create. Post that you are considering personal move to CT. LinkedIn also has a jobs area- but primary, headhunters will find you though it.

CT is ridiculously expensive!! The only reason I am here is because I was born here and my entire family is here. Taxes are very high (6% sales tax...and there are talks of raising that). Property taxes are very high. Housing is very expensive as well. I have friends in other parts of the country and when they tell me how much they bought their beautiful huge houses for...I shake my head and think - you couldn't even buy a condo here for that.

Not trying to talk you out of it. There are some great things about CT - we get all 4 seasons. It is a costal state. About 2 hours from NYC and Boston. Many areas do have that "rustic" north east feel.

Good luck with your search.

PM me if you have specific questions about CT

We moved to TX from CT 4 years ago. Let me know where in CT you are looking and I may be able to give you some information. The cost of living is pretty expensive but their are a lot of big companies and depending on where in CT you are planning to live you may be able to commute to NY!

Career Builder is the most popular website in the state http://jobs.careerbuilder.com/al.ic/Connecticut/

You may also want to try

What area of CT are you looking at? You may want to try looking at the major newspaper sites, Hartford Courant, New Haven Register, or New London Day.

What type of work do you do? Unemployment is high in our area and the cost of living will be much higher than it is in TX.

Good luck.

Where in CT are you looking? I grew up in Danbury and have family and friends that still live in CT. I agree with everyone else that it is super expensive and wouldn't move back there unless there was lost of $$$ involved ;-) PM with any questions if you would like...GL
