Hi ladies - I am in dire need of finding a quality and caring psychiatrist. For the past 3 weeks I have been experiencing the most horrendous physical episdoes that after several tests have pretty much ruled out any obvious physical causes. My husband seems to believe that I am having panic attacks and after doing some research - it could very well be possible. I really havent experienced anything this intense before but have noticed I am more anxious in general since I have had children (who isnt?) I really need to get in to have an official evaluation done by a psychiatrist but dont want to just randomly pick one, can anyone please recommend someone or give advise if you have experienced something like this? Thank you so so so so much!

R.

Try this group, they are awesome with exactly what you are experiencing. They would be a good source to recommend someone local if you don't like their program.

Not sure where you live, but I have been seeing one in the Mid-Cities area for a little over 6 months I think. I saw the actual psychiatrist first, but after that I have seen his Nurse Practitioner and she is so great! The dr's name is Cathal G. and the NP I see is Cheryl Tibblets. Their phone number is ###-###-####. Good luck. I know how hard all this is and I hope this helps!

R.,
If you have insurance, call the number on the back of your insurance card to get a list of providers. They have therapists who can talk to you at the insurance company and can refer you to somoeone who meets your particular preferences (location, age, sex). It could be that a therapist could also assist you rather than just going straigh to a psychiatrist. Often, the two working together seem to work best. It seems that you are in the Arlington area as you go to UTA. Dr. Kenneth Hopper is good- ###-###-####; The Parenting Center also has an excellent group of therapists. Kenneth Fallin is also a very good therapist- ###-###-####. Good luck!

I am so sorry you are struggling now. My sister has this same situation. I can recommend a great psychiatrist his name is Dr. John Baker he actual practices in Denton, and I have his number in my cell which is in my car but can get it for you if you email me.

Another good source for a psychiatrist would be your family doctor who would do the initial screening and then could refer you to someone they have used with good success. Good luck.
