We are going to be visiting the Pismo Beach Area and San Luis Obispo! Yah! Has anyone stayed at a beachfront hotel in Pismo Beach,Shell Beach or Avila beach that they can recommend? I have two young children so I would love to be close to the beach! Thank you!

What can I do next?

We've stayed at the Cliff's Resort in Shell Beach/Avila Beach several times with our young girls and it is gorgeous! The hotel is situated right on the water with walking paths down to the sand and features a great pool area for kids and adults. When we've stayed we have booked an ocean view suite and they are huge (they even have jacuzzi tubs). Plus, you can leave the patio doors open at night and listen to the waves! It was shockingly affordable from their website, so I'd check it out.

Hi. We just got back from San Luis Obispo. We stayed at The Avila Lighthouse Suites. We loved it! Our room was beach front. We have 3 kids under the age of 7 & they loved it. Would totally recommend it!

they have a awesome bakery in the hotel & the pool is to die for, nice and warm. But it's not next to a beach!! but worth it I promise!!

We've stayed at the Oxford Suite (about 2 to 5 min drive from beach) Was clean and has a pool. In addition, a decent morning breakfast that is included. Two drink tkts per person for the evening , whereby in the small bar area, you can get a glass of wine and or something for the kids. Don't worry though, it's not a loud area .. in fact, it's right off the hotel lobby and they keep the "happy hour" to a minimum... I like the fact that they also seem to keep the grounds of the area clean....
It's about a 20 min ride to SLO..... if you want to check out that place too..

Although I do like SLO, the prices are a bit higher than Pismo.. hence the reason we no longer stay there.. but not a problem if you have a car..

However, we have stayed in SLO... but not right on the beach, instead we stayed on the main strip at the Express Holiday Inn (at that time, was nice and clean) .. although it's been a few years since staying there..

Have fun!

We also stayed at the Oxford Suites in Pismo while visiting family in the area. It's very quiet, clean and comfortable. I agree that the breakfast is really good, too. Hot and cold meal items, well organized, with plenty of seating. We didn't have time to go to the beach while we were there, so I can't say how far/close it is.
