Anyone have the Essure permanent birth control procedure? How was it for you? How were the side effects? And most importantly was it a success? I am scheduled for the procedure in 16 days...so looking for your thoughts.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I had the Essure procedure yesterday. It was much more painful then I thought, but they had some difficulty getting me to dilate to get in there, so it took longer then they and I hoped. They think that my fallopian tubes spasmed and that was what was giving me so much pain. I am better today. Resting at home and getting some light household chores done and plan to return back to my desk job tomorrow. I am just hoping that it worked when I go back for the test in three months. Oh and I have a low tolerance of pain and had my only child 10 years ago, so it's been a while since anything has been happening near the fallopian tubes.

If the scar tissue grows around the coils and blocks the fallopian tubes, do the eggs you continue to release just sit in your ovaries then, kind of rotting away?
I tried to find out online but couldn't find the info...

My best friend just had her check up after having it and it is successful. She had very little pain, more like mild cramps than anything really like pain. She is very happy!

Women who have had tubal pregnancies still ovulate the egg just floats away into the system and is absorbed.

I did not but one of the managers where I work did. She said she loved it and wished she had done it earlier and also asked if she could do it again. :) For her it was an easy in-office procedure. Theoretically, it would be an extremely effective birth control because scar tissue permanently blocks the fallopian tubes. Unlike a tubal ligation, though, there isn't quite as long of a history to know if there are any down-the-road failure trends (like with a tubal after 10 years the failure rate increases slightly). Good luck!

I have not had it yet, we're going to have one more but my OB told me about it and this is the only procedure he wants to do now. He just went on and on about how great it was. Good luck!
