Peeling Feet??

Okay this is kinda yucky but the bottom of my son's feet peel. It looks like when you get a sunburn and the skin peels afterward. It has done this for years. I haven't worried a lot about it until now because he is messing with his feet a lot. The bottom of his toes are really bad! He is peeling the skin way down and I am worried he will get an infection. Does anyone know what causes this? His feet aren't dry and he bathes daily. Yes he washes his feet. He has food allergies but I have never heard of this as a symptom? Any Clues? Right now I am keeping the skin clean and using ointment with bandaids to cover the "bad" areas. Oh and trying to make him wear socks but in this heat it's hard to force that one..

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks I was wondering if that was what it was but I thought he was too young for Athletes Foot. He has worn sandals, flip flops or gone barefoot all summer. I want him to wear the socks so he will stop peeling his feet. He is really peeling deep! But I will leave them off. I just hope he learns to leave it alone!

My feet get really dry, & then I get a build-up on them of skin. When I'm bored, I sometimes pick at it. I know...gross. My heels also crack really, really bad. I put vaseline on my feet & then wear socks over night. I also use a body butter from Bath & Body Words. I also use a razorblade scraper designed for feet (bought it at Wal Mart).

LG -Avon has a great foot spray for Atletes feet and right now they are having a 2 for 1 sale. The stuff is great!

As a child, mine did that too. I would suggest you try Lotramin AF. I wouldn't suggest socks in this heat since the moisture from sweat will just feed the fungus. Try to keep his feet as dry as possible. Barefoot is best or sandals.

Sounds like a fungal infection. Try the lotrimin cream for about 3 weeks. also spray the inside of his shoes with anti-fungal spray. that should work.

Athlete's foot knows no age. My son got it some how at the age of 7. It is really treatable. Use an anti-fungal cream on his feet and spray in and on his shoes and it will go away. Don't make him wear socks, the warm, damp environment is perfect for the infection to grow. Tell him not to touch it b/c, it can lead to other infections and if he does, make him wash his hands. Also, a good home remedy, if he will go for it, is soak his feet in a tub of white vinegar.

A doctor once told me it is too much moisture. Basicly, his feet get too sweaty in his shoes. In that case the most breathable socks you can find and foot powder. But you probably need a doctor to take a peek.
