Pediatrician's Policies with High Fevers

I don't know if there is a specific trend regarding fever. My pediatricians office (Hyde Park Pediatrics) is great about seeing my kids at my request, if they have a high fever, low fever, or no fever at all. They are more interested in knowing if my children "seem sick" to me. I do know that fever is considered to be a natural process and shows that the body is fighting infection. There is often no treatment prescribed other than OTC or comfort measures, in the absence of identifiable cause for the fever. Hope this helps!

My pediatrician is excellent and will see my children when I feel they need to be seen. There is no strict guidelines. Dr. Leanza with Springdale Mason Pediatrics. ####-###-####. They have offices in Springdale and Mason.

I have never had my pediatrician tell me to wait on bringing in my son, especially with that high of a fever! Can I ask who your pediatricians are? If tylenol doesn't work try alternating it with Motrin. Tylenol doesn't work on my son if his temp is higher than 101. Left a pediatrician in the Landon area because the one doctor didn't like that I used my maternal instinct and got a second opinion on a diagnosis.

they would see a child even w/out fever if the parent is for any reason concerned ;
if the fever is under 103 and the child is above 1 and feels ok-they are not that worried;but would see you if u want;
kids under 1-if fever is above 101-they want you to take the child to be checked up asap

You should change your pediatician immediately. This doctor is an idiot. What I know is 102 is already consider high fever, how can your doctor let your kid have such of high fever for 3 days??? Go see other doctor or bring her to the hospital ASAP.

I know the policy regarding fevers varies with the child's age. For example, if your daughter is relatively young such as 1 or 2 years old, the doctor should have had you bring her in. However, if she is 8, 9, or 10 years old, a fever is not as serious unless it lasts several days.

We love our pediatrician. We take our almost 3 year old and 8 month old to Suburban Pediatrics in Mason. Our doctor is Dr. Ronna Schneider.
