Hello Ladies,

I am inquiring about the hourly rate you pay your babysitter. I have an easy going 1 year old little girl and I am not sure what an appropriate hourly rate is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

We paid $10 per hour when we had one - now it's 12.00 for two.

I pay $10/hr for 1 child. I always have older babysitters though--college students, coworkers or other moms. $10 seems a little high to me, but I have have had college students try to get the night off work so they can babysit for me. I also want my babyistters to be happy to come over. I figure if they are happy they are more likely to be good to my child. When I have my 2nd child I will increase the pay to $12-15/hr.

I pay $7 an hour for my two kids - 3 and 19 months. I usually round up to the next hour for a tip. I started this babysitter at $5 an hour (she told me to pay what I thought was fair), but she is really good. My kids totally love her.

We have 2 sisters that sit once in awhile who charge $5 per kid per hour. They have called me home every time though for my son crying, so I try not to use them. I think $10 an hour is a rip off for a teenager coloring or heating up some food!

I think the standard is $10/hour for anyone with experience. Plus add $1/hour for each additional child.

For a teenager just starting out, maybe they would ask a little less $7-$10/hour.

I charge $10/hour for up to four children, but since I'm a licensed child care provider with kids of my own, I babysit at my home instead of going to the client.

Good luck!
