I have heard alot about this problem in the news and internet ect. And its ironic because my son was using size 4 pamper cruisers and he broke out in a blistering rash. It was intensly painful during changing time. He used them for a week and i discontinued them and the rash seemed to just go away. So im just wondering if any other mommas out there have had a bad expierience with these diapers?

My daughter and a few of my daycare kids have been using the new Dry Max with no problems whatsoever. I have heard about this also, but haven't seen anything personally, nor do I know anyone personally who has experienced it.

We never had any problems with the new pampers dry max. My son is 18 months old and earlier we were using pampers cruisers when he was having rashes. We tried to change so many brands but some were leaking and some would wear out from the sides. Only pampers were staying right but causing rashes. So one thing that we change was we stopped using wipes as my son's skin is very sensitive. And now with this new pampers he is doing great. Not even a single diaper rash after switching to this one from last 2 months. So you can try changing the wipes or leaving him in open air for sometime after diaper change when he is having rashes. That helps a lot. Hope he get well soon.

I have used the new ones and had no problem-I personally think these rashes are happening and people are just blaming the diapers bc they see the news-it could be alot of other things-I have used a huge box w/no problems/rashes/etc. I change the diaper right away . L.

I always used Huggies and did not have a problem but my sister-n-law used Pampers and had this experience. They switched to the Target brand and have had zero problems since.

My 3 kids always used Huggies, 1 of my boys though developed an allergy to Pampers, the one package we got as a baby shower gift.. I did contact Pampers and they said they use a little perfume, which is probably what he's reacting to..

Haven't tried the new one so I can't answer your question. But if it does cause a rash and you want to try something else, I recommend Luvs. We've tried Huggies, Pampers and I forget what else. I think Pampers is overpriced for what it can do (again, never tried the new one)., but Luvs delivers. I love it!

I have used them and noticed that my kids break out and my oldest one never breaks out. I use huggies A LOT :) also luvs they work pretty great. My friends buy the off brand for my kids bc they want to help but cant afford and when I refuse they dont listen... they didnt even break out to those! The only one they seem to break out to is the new cruisers but the older ones they were fine with. We try to use coupons to save a little so we have tried pretty much every brand out there. Try something else maybe call a few of the companies and get some samples to see which ones he is ok with and which ones he isnt. So sorry your little man had this effect to these I hope they change back to the older ones.

I have always used Pampers for my little guy ... who is now 9-months-old. We switched him to the Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max about a month or two ago and have not had any issues. While I was in Arizona visiting family my sister picked up a package of Huggies for me to use while I was there and we had probably 3-4 leaks in one week!! He also leaked using Huggies as a newborn which is why I switched to Pampers in the first place... and unless he's late coming into this whole rash thing from Pampers ... I will probably always use Pampers! ;-) Best of luck to you in finding diapers that your little one is not sensitive to! Diaper rashes are no fun.

It was already mentioned, but we use Pampers Baby Dry (since it's a little less costly) and have never had a problem with rashes. I actually prefer them to the Cruisers since they don't seem to get as "squishy" when they're really wet, especially over night.

I didn't read all the way down, but I read the news story on this, and it claims there was no change to anything int he diaper, they just changed the way they made them. They no quilt the stuff the absorbs into the diaper, instead of just filling it. I have never used them, and I rarely use pampers. I am not a big fan. I prefer huggies, or luvs! My kids always got rashes with Pampers, I always felt they had more of a scent added, and it irritated my babies. I have used the swaddlers recently, but they are the ones without drymax, and I hate them, they always feel wet through the clothes!

My daughter and son both made the switch from the older Cruisers to the Dry Max without incident. They both have been prone to diaper rash in the past, but so far, I haven't noticed any adverse reaction to the new diapers. Thanks for answering my question, K.. I thought I should respond to yours too. :)

There's a big movement right now to bring back the prior version of Pampers (pre Dry Max) because of the number of skin issues that have developed.

Johnson & Johnson has rigorously defended the product. Here's one blogger's take on it: http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2010/05/07/recall-pampers-d...

Personally, I'd move to a different brand. As a mom of 2, I never really liked Pampers, so we're almost exclusively Huggies.

I had heard about this as well. I tried these diapers and did notice a slight rash on my daughter so I stopped using them. However, even in a different brand, she gets an occasional rash. I think with these Dry Max diapers you have to change them more often. On the suggestion of our pediatrician, I use a hair dryer on low to dry off my daughter after a diaper change and it works wonders. He told me that putting diaper cream on top of a damp rash will only prolong it. Back to the diapers though - Pampers does have a comment on their website...something about it being an uncommon incidence.

Wow...I thought my son just had really sensitive skin. I noticed the Dry Max diapers had a scent to them that the old Cruisers did not and thought it was that...but reading the blog link on DanaW's response...I see that I am not alone and maybe it isn't just my son having sensitive skin...but something way bigger. I think I will be switching brands after reading P&G's response to the parents and their complaints. Our babies are our world and for them to just brush it off like they are is completely wrong...

My son has a a rash ever since they came out with the Dry Max and we put them on him. It is where the dye is on the diaper...

I have 2 friends whose kids broke out in a bad rash from the dry max,
it seems some are reacting to it and some arent.

I would stay away from them now since your son seems to be one of the ones to react to them

If you want to read a very well written in-depth analysis of the rash issue with Pampers Cruisers Dry Max, check out the blog Z Recommends (because it is a blog, if you want to read in chronological order, scroll all the way to the bottom first): http://www.zrecommends.com/category/Pampers

They have photos of the old and new Pampers diapers dissected, and go into detail about what changed.

For us, it wasn't dry max that caused the problem, but Pampers in general. My daughter wore Pampers for 18 months with no problem. One day, she got a painful rash on her hips. We tried everything, but it just kept getting worse and spreading onto her backside and tummy. We ended up having to take away diapers completely and finish potty training quickly. She had suddenly developed an allergy to the diapers.

We have always been Pampers users for both of my kids and never had a problem with them, even the new ones. Some kids may be more sensitive to whatever they are made with, but I don't necessarily think all kids will have a problem. I bought them before I knew about all of this and since I haven't had any issues with them, I continue to use them. I would just switch brands for your own peace of mind. I've heard Target and Sam's brand diapers work well! Good luck to you.

I haven't read all of the responses nor do I have personal experience with this diaper, but judging from the name "dry max", it sounds like perhaps J&J added more of that gelling agent that makes disposable diapers so absorbent, and maybe your son is having a reaction to the additional amount? Just a thought--I don't know what the hype is in the media regarding these diapers either, but that would have me a bit suspicious. Sounds like discontinuing them was a good call though!

Does anyone know if they only changed the Cruisers or did they change the Baby Dry too? We use the Baby Dry because you can get about 30-40 (cant remember the exact amount) more diapers in a box than you can with Cruisers. We havent had any leaking issues (only at night but that is a different topic ) and my son does just fine with the Baby Dry and he has very sensitive skin. Good luck.
