Diaper Advice Needed

I just had my second child 6 weeks ago. My oldest is 15 and much has changed over the years. I'm interested in your thoughts on what diapers are the best out there these days. I got a lot of different brands of diapers for shower gifts but I was shocked at the lack of thickness and softness and how quickly my 6 week old fills the diapers up. Obviously, we are trying to get him to sleep through the night but the diapers don't seem to keep him dry enough to last more than 4 hours.

As always, I really value your advice ladies!

My son started sleeping through the night at 2 months old and the only diapers that kept him dry were the Luvs. I tried several kinds of Pampers and Huggies, but we always went back to Luvs!

I have had two kids and I had the same problem with my son. I tried Pampers,White Cloud and Luvs. The one I had the best expierence with was the Luvs. White Cloud was good also, I just thought that Luvs was a little bit better.

Hello, I've found that Pampers Cruisers worked the best for my son. We have been using them since he was two months(he's now 23 months). I tried LUVS, huggies, and the wal-mart brand but he seemed to leak w/ those. The cruisers are a bit more expensive then the other diapers but I found that I changed him less w/ them because they absorb more. Also they stretch so even as the baby gains weight you dont have to keep buying different sizes. Good Luck.

Congratulations!

For both of my kids i likes the swaddlers then used LUVS. I recently though tried the Target brand and they are great !! I couldnt belive the difference in the price for a box compared to even Luvs. I bought a small bag 1st to see how I liked them and then went and bought the box. I also love the target brand wipes. I get the unscented and they are so nice and soft. I tried other brands of both diapers and wipes and these are what I liked best. good luck! L.

Regaurdless of all the name brands, because My child always seem to be leaking out. The one diaper I know works the best is white cloud. You can find it at any walmart. I have used this diaper ever since I have found it at walmart. And it always does a great job.....
Good luck and I hope this works for you as it did me.

Big fan of Pampers, here. Used Swaddlers until he grew out of them, and now use Cruisers. They never leaked when they fit, and going up a size always solved the problem when they couldn't hold whatever my little guy could toss out there.

My daycare uses Huggies, and they have been pretty good, but he still changes clothes due to diaper-related incidents more often at daycare than at home.

My Two Cents. :-)

I absolutely love the Huggies Supreme. Not to be confused, there is another huggies sub-brand also, but they do not fit as well as the supremes. My daughter is 9 months old, and has never peed so much that it leaked out. There have been times where I couldnt believe how full and heavy her diaper was, and no leakage. Even with poops, the only times she has ever leaked out is when it was my fault for not putting the daiper on right.

I have always had that problem of trying to keep my baby dry through the night. I asked a friend the same question and she told me that with the night time diaper she usually would go one size up and the diaper would not leak. I tried it and found this to be the answer. The baby stays dry all night. I have tried the all the diapers from the 3 most popular companies, (Pampers, Huggies and Luvs)and found that I like Luvs the best, but I do bounce between Pampers and Luvs.

I have found any brand of pampers to work the best for us. Luv just seemed to leak but pampers swaddlers and the cruisers work great.

When my daughter was born I used pampers swaddlers. They worked great! Now she is using huggies size 2 diapers and they work great too. They seem to be really flexible unlike the store brand diapers, which work but I didn't like the way they fit on her. I buy my diapers in bulk at Sam's Club or if I see them on sale at Target. Hope that helps.

Pampers definitely get my vote. I used swaddlers at first, and now we've moved on to the baby dry. We tried huggies too, but my little guy had pretty skinny legs at first and the leg openings seem to be bigger on the huggies, so they leaked. But my friend's little boy had much chunkier legs and she swore by huggies. Guess its different for every baby :)

One thing I will say is that I've used several different store brands and I HATED every single one...they all leaked like crazy.

My daughter will be two in a week and I have had her little rear in Huggies since she was born. I don't buy anything else. Not the supreme ones just the regular huggies, and she is still in diapers and sleeping through the night and wakes up with a wet diaper but a normal wet diaper as if she were running around playing.

I have to go with Pampers. They are my favorite. I love the Baby Dry but once my little one became mobile, other moms suggested the cruisers b/c they really move with them as they're crawling. Pampers are more expensive.. I use them at home. Since they change him in daycare every 2 hours or so, I send cheaper diapers to daycare -- I can usually find LUVS on sale or I'll send Target brand. I've tried all kinds of store brand including Cosco and they just don't work. I also don't like huggies.. they are hard and rigid.
When my little one was a newborn I was paranoid he'd develop a rash so I started with pampers and tried to always get perfume free. By the way, I also recommed pampers wipes - sensitive when they're newborns - then baby fresh and lavender when they're older. Store brand wipes you go through 2x as many for a poopy diaper

We have always used Pampers - all varieties. We tried Huggies but we had leak problems with them. I found if my kids' diapers leak at night, it is usually about the time they need to be switched to the next size. So I use the next larger size on them at night and continue to use their current size on them during the day until they run out or until we start having a daytime leakage problem.

Huggies have worked best for my son (now 2) - we tried others, but they fit around his skinny legs the best. I used Pampers with my daughter (now 15 - I know how you feel!), but they didn't fit my son well. Don't be fooled by how thin the diapers are these days - they typically work really well! Another thing I've noticed (different from when my daughter was a baby) is that they keep the babies much dryer. A lot has changed, hasn't it??

Going a size up is great for a night time diaper... For smaller babies i loved pampers swaddlers. However when they start to get older i think luvs works the best. I have found that they are not so great for newborns and I absolutely HATE HUGGIES. They leaked every time I used them. Good Luck.

We use Huggies Supreme - I'm on baby #3 and they've worked great for all of them. Pampers always leaked for mine. I nursed all of mine so we get the loose seedy stools. Pampers didn't have enough elastic around the top to keep it in the back. We had more poopy leaks out the top in the back -- basically every diaper. The Huggies shape seems to work better and they fit more snuggly. I also think they are quite soft and never had problems with irritation on my very sensitive skinned munchkins. The seem to speed through the sizes early on, but once you hit size 3, you use them a long time. My daughter potty trained at about 2 3/4 and she never grew out of 3's. My son is bigger and just outgrew the 3's at about 27 months. Now we're starting over again in newborns!

Someone else mentioned Overnights - we loved them and used them, but they only start at size 3 so probably aren't really an option for a 6 week old. Another person mentioned going up a size - as long as they aren't too big to fit snugly, then that's a super option until he's big enough for overnights.

Hi, I really like, and have had good experiences with the White Cloud diapers that you can get at Wal-Mart. They are reasonablly priced and are much better than Luvs. If those don't work I also like Huggies Supremes they fit real nice on a baby.

I loved pampers swaddlers . Then I switched to huggies natural fit because my daughter had a problem with leakage up her back. They are both very soft and flexible. They hold up pretty well but I will say I have tried most brands and they all leak a little. I recommend carrying a change of clothes in the diaper bag which I am sure you already do. Hope this helps!

I really like the Huggies overnights. They helped keep my son dry through the night. I didn't have a problem during the day, I do like the pampers baby dry with the stretchy tabs, but I now use the wegmans brand.

I liked the Luv's and the Parent's choice (walmart brand) the best. I tried Huggies and Pampers and some other store brands, but Luv's has really been my favorite of all. My son is 18 mo and at times he does not want to lay down for diaper changes, because he is way too busy to have to stop for a dirty diaper, so we are experimenting with Pampers pullups and I haven't had any leaks during the day, but they are not absorbent enough to last through the night, so we still use Luvs at night. Luvs are not as expensive as Huggies or Pampers which makes them even better. Good luck!

I used Pampers Swaddlers with my daughter as a newborn but decided to try out the BJ's brand when she started leaking and was ready for the next size. The BJ's brand don't feel as soft and nice on the outside which disappointed me a little, but once I tried them for a week I haven't looked back! 1) I have never had a leak and 2) they have satisfaction guarentee so if you don't like them after using them you can take what's left back and get your money back also 3) They are significantly cheaper and BJ's often has coupons for an additional $3 off per box.

Hi L....
Congrats on the baby! I tried all kinds from shower gifts and the best ones for Cody were the Pampers Swadlers, they keep him from leaking (every once in awhile over night if he sleeps 8 hours it will leak) and they keep the moisture away from his skin to prevent infection. The worst were Huggies, they leaked all the time for me. Good luck and also you get points rewards with Pampers. Check it out on line at pampers.com
