Other Option for Easy Bake Oven?

Hi ladies,
We recently aquired an easy bake oven for my daughter and made our first recipe yesterday. It was fun but I have a big objection to how much the pre-made mixes cost and how much sugar is in them. Has anyone experimented with using other recipes or cake mixes? Are there adjustments that need to be made for sanitary cooking (i.e. with eggs) or can you just substitute any mix or recipe and just adjust the cooking time? Thanks!

What can I do next?

We use regular cake mix in a box...it works great!

(3 tblsp of cake mix and 1 tblsp of milk).

Happy baking!

The jiffy brand mixes at Walmart, we just skip any eggs, it still comes out Easybake worthy. My daughter loves to get the refrigerated cookie dough and just bake with no mixing.

When I had my Easy Bake Oven 40 some years ago, we used the Jiffy mixes instead of the Easy Bake mixes.

You can use just about any recipe or mix. It just makes a whole lot more batter and finished product than the brand specific mix does. The Jiffy mixes are also equal to about one cake layer (9 inch diameter), so they're easier and cheaper than a Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker mix which are usually two layer cakes.

I believe you can google recipes on line for your easy bake oven.

We always used the Easy Bake stuff but when we ran out and did not want to run to Target or where ever....we used the regular cookie/small cake mixes on hand.

Have fun!!
