No Valentines Day...grr

I'm 22 yrs old, I've already been married and divorced and dated my fair share of men from time to time throughou my teenage years. Through all of this I went through many Valentines Day's with someone. You'd think that I would love Valentine's Day, most women do...gifts and passionate men, but not me. Now I know you're starring at your computer thinking "What is her major malfunction!?!"
My malfunction is this:

I'VE NEVER RECIEVED ANYTHING FROM ANYONE ON THIS SPECIAL DAY.

I've never even heard my boyfriend or at one time, my husband say "Happy Valentine's Day", let alone recieve anything or have him whoever he was display love towards me on that day. Robert and I have been together for 2 years(in April), last year I bought him a snake, that he'd been drooling over for months, it cost me over $500!!! He didn't buy me a thing, however he did say a casual "thanks". I asked him today if we were going to do anything for Valentine's Day, dinner, gifts, a movie, or just a night together even if we sit on a park bench by the lake, alone, no kids and no medaling family members! He said 'No we're just gonna stay home, I don't feel like celebrating that stupid day."

I know it seems really stupid and petty, but this upsets me alot...especailly when my best friend calls to tell me that her boyfriend rented a limo and got reservation for 2 reallllllly fancy restraunts(one for dinner one for dessert) and that he is taking her to a certain jewlery store and told her that she can buy 1 piece, no matter that price!!! The worst part, they've been together less then a year and have no children together!!

Am I the only woman in America that isn't celebrating this day!! And how in the world do I convince him that I need and want this??

What can I do next?

I"ve been there myself & it's tough to get someone to hear you - so you have to tell him flat yout - " it may be a commercial holiday but it's important to me" He doesn't have to be extravegant, but it is the one day he can show you how much he loves & appreciates you. Especially if it isn't shown the rest of the year! You aren't being petty - you just want what we all want - appreciation & love. Good luck girl - some men have to hear it flat out & to the point. He may not care about it until he hears from you that it matters to you.

I say...forget about him on valentines and celebrate with your son! I know you might think.."why do I want to spend it with my baby!" But he's your son and spending the moment with your little man, and ONLY him, can bring you joy! Do something different, fun, and have a kind person nearby to take some quick snapshots of you guys for memories! :) Take the time to "absorb" motherhood and appreciate yourself as the strong woman you are, and you dont need a man to make you feel special because you gave birth to a beautiful son who's love is unconditional! :) I know its hard when you are putting everything in the relationship and getting nothing in return...but remember..you have your little boy who loves EVERYTHING about you!:)

Every day is Valentine's day... if you're with the one you love!

My husband will be taking the day off and we're heading to the pediatrician and then to the beach with our 5 month old son.

I am sure that at some point I'll say "Happy V-day" and he'll respond, but other than that, it just another valentine's day!

If you want to make a big deal out of V-day, then maybe you should plan the day and drag your SO along? I'm sure he won't complain if you plan it - he probably isn't against V-day, just doesn't think it is a big deal.
