No Top Front Teeth Yet?

Hi Moms!

My 8 month old daughter got her two bottom teeth when she was 6 months old. Then the she got two teeth on the top but not the middle ones, they are the ones on either side of where the middles ones should be. This past week she just got another tooth on the bottom. Should I be concerned that the top middle have not come in yet? Right now there is no sign of them either. Has this happened to anyone else?

What can I do next?

Don't worry about it. My son started getting his teeth at an earlier age but he looked like a little vampire for several weeks when his eye teeth came in before his front teeth. Each child is different. I'm not sure how a body determines which ones come in first.

Good luck.

I remember thinking the same thing when my 1st son got his teeth in a very similar fashion. I was thinking oh my gosh! But approx a month later the top front ones came in. The posted tooth guidelines are just that..guides...some kids won't follow that pattern. They'll be in eventually! :-) FYI. My 3 children I had after that....their teeth ALLL came in the same way.

When my son got his teeth, he started with one of the bottom ones in the middle at about 13 1/2 months. Then he went straight across the top, getting 4 in a row starting at one end and working towards the other. None of this happend until he was almost 15 months old. I wouldn't be worried at all. They will come in time.

Ask the pediatrician and you can always go to a pediatric dentist to have this checked out. It is possible for there not to be teeth but there could be a delay in them coming down too.

Try not to worry too much. They are probably just coming in in a different order than usual. My son is almost 14 mo with no teeth at all.

My now 4 year old got her teeth in a funny order as you described. We enjoyed calling her vampire baby. Anyway, I worked with a geneticist at the time and asked if this was an indication of problems and he assured me that it was not. Your baby will get her teeth and all will be fine. Side note- I was born with my two front teeth which I find much more freaky.
