My son is 4 years old and still wears a Good Night.

Also, he tends to have a lot of accidents.

Any advice on what to do about getting him completely free of pampers?

Thanks

R.,

There are a few homeopathic remedies you can try to help strengthen his bladder. Hylands makes a good one.

You might also want to consider having him adjusted by a chiropractor who's familiar with treating children. This can have a HUGE and positive impact on staying dry at night. It worked wonders with my daughter who was completely dry and began to regress for no apparent reason.

Best of luck!

I have a 5 year old in pull ups at night. She is a really heavy sleeper and that has contributed to the problem. She usually wakes up dry, but there are those nights when she has an accident. We are slowly trying to get rid of the pull ups. I limit drinks before bed and try to get her up and go to the potty through the night.
Bed wetting is not always the child's problem. There are other issues that contribute to the problem. Such as....a heavy sleeper, bladder has not developed as fast as the child or it could be inhearited (sorry about the spelling).
My daughter was hit with a double...she is a heavy sleeper and her father was a bed wetter.
Hope all works out, S.

I stopped pullups last month. I tell him to go before bed which he does and then at night I get up and I just pick him up and take him to the potty.
If he wakes up asking for water I'll give him some water then I take him to the potty.
There are nights where I just sleep through and knock on wood. No accidents.

I wouldn't stress about this. Potty training takes different amounts of time for every child, so don't compare your child to anyone else's.

My neighbor has told me that with her son, she would restrict liquids after dinner. My sister has told me with her daughter, she just noticed that diaper just kept getting dryer and dryer each night and eventually it just worked out on its on.

When does he have accidents? Is it emotion-related?

My daughter is 5 and is still wearing diapers to bed. I've started getting more into training her since she'll go to Kindergarten next year I feel she's too old. I think a lot of it has to do with development and also how heavy they sleep. But what works for me now is I stop her drinking right after dinner. I have her use the bathroom right before bed. When I go to bed around 11pm I'll get her out of bed and try again. This worked well for a while, then she was wetting the bed and I got frustrated with all the dirty sheets so she's back in diapers, but I'm going to wait a few weeks and try again.

I wouldnt worry to much about night training my sons almost six and still isnt night time trained. he wears the goodnights, he was hit with a double wammy though. he is a very heavy sleeper when he does fall asleep. and my mom was a bed wetter into her teen years. plus she says I wet the bed when I was younger to. you could talk to your doctor to make sure his bladder is completley developed. if it hasnt fully developed yet then the goodnights are the best thing to do. kids can be wearing goodnights up to age eight waiting for there bladder to develop fully. even then they may still have accidents for several years after.

I have 3 boys and all of them were 4 when they didn't want diapers anymore. I would just take the pressure off because once he decides he can do it you won't have to worry at all. It will happen because he is getting older. With that said there were boys in my neighborhood that were 6 that still wet in the night. So they just develop much slower and you need to be patient and not make him feel bad. You will be glad if you let him do it himself because then you won't have to worry about him when your out in a mall or something. Hang in there it will happen..
