My husband and I just found out that we are pregnant with baby number 2 (yay!). With our first baby, we agreed on a name very quickly, but now we are stuck. Every name I love for boy or girl, he doesn't like, and his suggestions I'm not too fond of either. So I was wondering if anyone knew any great baby name websites or books I could check out? I went to babynames.com and they just didn't seem to have as many great names as they claim! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Congrats to bothof you. Check out this website called babycenter.com. I love it. If you give them your address they send you free coupons and samples. You get all logged in...it's free. When you get logged in you search baby names and it gives you popular baby names from 1880's all the way to 2004. If you can't agree on names it helps you out. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I can't really help ya out with a website or book, but I can tell you....your not the only one. My husband and I are also expecting baby #2 (due in January) and we have having a horrible time trying to come up with a name for this baby. Like you, we agreed very quickly on names when we were pregnant with our son, but this time... every name we seem to agree on, we know someone close(a friend or family member somewhere) that has that name. If you get any good ideas on books I'd love to hear them!

Too funny-my husband and I have 5 and it was different each time with figuring out a name for them. The 1st we agreed on right off the bat, and then after that it was "no I don't like that one, try again"....LOL. I never really liked baby name books, but they are fun to look at to see all the diff. names. We named ours, ANTONIO-MATTHEW-TREVOR-
RAYLEIGH(ray-lee)-And KATELYNN....it just depends on the 2 of you's and your preferences on names....

?-Do you have a name in the family that you would consider,,, maybe even for the middle name so you could have at least one down and 1 to go:)

What I use to do is every time that I heard a name that I liked, and I wrote it down and made different ways of spelling them, and then after so many names that I wrote down I read them all to him too hear his opinions on em, I always thought that that was fun. Or even using a last name for the first name--you could use the phone book for some ideas-thats a real fun way to finding one:)

Sorry:(, didn't really answer your ?- maybe I was of some help anyways.

CONGRATULATIONS BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with Emily C. We used the Social Security website as well. It was so hard coming up with names. We just adopted our son at the end of March. We didn't want something too common, which is why we loved this site. We also looked at the different states top picks. It is interesting to see what the people in Hawaii pick vs. the people in New York. I guess some might call us a little weird, but we finally came up with Calvin. Our daughter is Emerald (she has 2 great-grandmas Pearl and Ruby on different sides of the family). You can also look at maps. They inspired us for middle names. We looked at fun places we had traveled (Alaska, Tahiti, China, Mexico) and found some cool names to help inspire us. Best wishes and don't stress, you have plenty of time.

Congrats!!
You can try behindthename.com, they have a lot of names sorted by origin. They also have a random name generator that is quite fun.
Good luck on finding a name!

We just had our 2nd child at the end of February and had a hard time deciding on a name as well (he wasn't officially named until he was 2 days old)! We searched the internet high and low and I think the site that actually helped us the most was the social security website. It gives you the top 1000 names but you can also search back to the 1800s and see the most common names back then (which of course are much different than now)! And you can type in a name and it will give you its place on the list. Or even see the top 5 names per state which is also interesting. Good Luck!

My husband and I had the same dilemma with our second baby, and I couldn't find anything in baby name books that helped so we just looked everywhere, books, the Bible, newspapers, my favorite tv shows. And for months everything I suggested fell flat on his ears. My grandmother passed away some time before I got pregnant and we got to take home her very very favorite movie and while we were watching it I stuck around for the credits, for the sole reason of looking at names, and we found Molly. Chris loved it and it is sentimental. Movie credits! Tons of names!

Hi J.,

It is always easier with the first one, same happened to us, we finally agreed, she has two names now, the 2 of them we like, just make sure that you both like the names you choose even if they are not your favorites!

Here are a few sites that you may want to look at:

http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/
http://www.parents.com/babynames/
http://www.gobabynameworld.com/
http://www.originalbabysite.com/
And just for fun you can check this one too!

Congratualtions and best wishes mom!
