Need Secondhand Hiking Backpacks

The goodwill in mckinney has TONS of backpacks they are in the back of the store on the left side...

Hi , and good luck on your adventure in Boy Scouts.
We faced this a few years ago. What we did was go to REI and had him fitted for a backpack that gave me an idea on what size to get. Then I went looking and ended up found a great deal on e-bay. Some times backpacks come up on cragslist. Also you may want to check with the troop that you are joining some of the older boys may have outgrown the backpack that they used when they started. We borrowed one for the first hiking trip that we went on but they had a younger son that would be going into boy scouts later so they were not interested in selling the one the older boy had out grown.

I would check on Craigslist. I was looking for a tent a couple weeks ago and saw some backpacks on there-who knows if they still are or what new ones are listed!

REI does a big cleareanceonce or twice a year. i would see when they next one coming up is. I think it is usually January.

Both my sons went through scouts and we've got one backpack left. It's a Camptrails brand, my son's used Camptrails (as recommended by their scoutmaster) as their starter packs until they moved up into more expensive ones. It's a size medium. Contact me if you would like some more information - I'm sure my husband will let it go for a good price.

You might also try to join a free yahoo group called FreeCycle. Search for it in your city and it will add you to the correct group. I have received and given away a lot of things! Good Luck! C.
