Hi, my son just turned 12 months and he has been eating table food and baby food since he was 10 months. I was needing some ideas for dinner time. He doesnt like the gerber graduates he likes the chef boyardees dinners instead but they are mainly pasta. So I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Be careful with the gerber graduates and almost all premade kids meals-they are super high in salt-in fact one of them can be more than 2 x the recommended sodium intake for one whole day. Try canned veggies without salt-they are soft enough but dont contain all of that salt. You can do frozen(which have the most nutrients-you may just have to cook longer so that they are not so crunchy:) Also fruits are good-you can get them in individual serving sizes in the adult section(just watch the sugar). Also little pieces of chicken(you can grind them or just shred them and chop it. Bananas, cheerios(mulitgrain have lots of iron!). Scrambled eggs with cheese are great for protein and calcium

when my kids were this age - the loved cooked macaroni, canned beans (all types drained and rinsed - black, kidney, red, pink, chick, etc), small bits of cheese, fruit, cooked cut up veggies - like carrots, green beans, peas, canned beats, eggs, cut up banana, yogurt, grilled cheese, spaghetti with a little sauce, organic cereal/fruit bars, crackers, cheerios, oatmeal. In addition, we fed them everything we were eating. The above list was just some favorites.

Anything that you can cut into "strips" that he can pick up and bite off. (Does he have teeth?) I used to take hotdogs and cut them length-wise into long strips and then do the same with cheese. If you serve this with green beans or another soft veggie or fruit, you have a great meal.

Anything you and daddy are eating that is soft and can be cut up into small bites or manageable pieces should work.

Also, check out the "kid kitchen" meals. They are little microwave meals that have great varieties. My 11yo still eats the beanie weenies and I even grab the spaghetti rings and franks. Check out the different ones.

Good luck.

Our twin boys eat anything we do. You name it we give it to them including sea food. They love their veggies, which we give them first and then whatever meat we are eating followed by fruit, pudding, yogart, etc.

One had a couple of teeth and the other had a ton, but we feed them the same things.

Good luck!

Your other posts are right that your baby should be able to eat some of whatever you eat except tone down salt and spices. My boys are very picky eaters, though, so here are some things that work for us; keep in mind that you have to introduce foods several times-they may reject at first just because the texture is unusual or different-their tastes will grow. chicken nuggets cut up in small pieces; french fries cut up small; mashed potatoes or other cooked potatoes; chicken fettucini, lasagna, toast is a favorite here; yogurt, jello good luck
