Need Helping Planning a 40Th Birthday Bash!

My hubby will be turning the big 4-0 next month. I need some creative, fun, memorable ideas for just about every little detail. Location/venue. Birthday invite/announement. Catchy slogans/quotes. Gifts. And I need an idea for a momento...something that he will always remember this birthday by. For example, a friend of ours emailed every person ahead of time and asked them to make a video or take a picture of a "Happy 40th Birthday" poster/card/skit, and then she made a montage out of it. Super cool. I think I'm leaning towards buying a big blank picture frame w/ a mat, and having all the guests write down a memory or shout-out and sign it. Then I'll put a picture in it and he can hang it up and always reminisce.

So anyway...I need some creativity!

Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Picture frame with mat sounds awesome, I would also ask every invitee to bring a picture of your husband (assuming they are all friends and family so they have at least one) so you can make a poster (at the venue) with all the different pictures showing him at different times on his life, from baby age to tenn-age etc...I think it's fun and he can keep it! As a memento I would reccomend disposable cameras (one for each table) so they can have fun during the party and take their own memories at home. If you have money to spend, hire someone for a funny monologue about aging, or read one yourself, if you find a really good one. Just some ideas. Have fun!

Venue: restaurant (no work for you)
Gift idea: watch if he would wear one (put a short inscription on the back
of watch face)
Have a Happy 40th Banner at restaurant
(or make one yourself: Lordy, Lordy, husbands-name is turning 40!)
Send out an email to all of his relatives & friends asking them to write a
little something nice, quote for the birthday boy. Tell them it's a surprise.
Print out & bind together yourself to give to hubby.
Maybe you could print out pictures of him from birth to showcase at the
restaurant. (The ones from our youth always get a laugh.)
If you don't want to do the memory frame, you could do a pretty postcard
collection. Their favorite memories of him & bind them together w/ribbon
or a keychain ring.
Invite could say: Lordy, Lordy Tom is turning 40!
Come help us celebrate!
Dinner & drinks at........
Date/Time
Some people do black balloons but I've never been a fan of that.
Maybe pick his favorite color instead.
You can decorate w/balloons, streamers, banners, signs, confetti
(restaurant permitting)
Have fun!

Are you set on a party? I told my husband when I was turning 40 this past September that I wanted to do something fun that would make me feel like I was young again. He took me to an awesome concert - Nightranger, Foreigner, and Journey for my 40th. I did feel young for a few hours and had a great time!

How about a photo memory with photos of the guest and your husband from the earliest they have? Anyone who knew him as a child or young adult?

Think outside the box. C.
