At my family reunion we play a game called suicide karaoke. Each player is given a song at random(you have no idea what its going to be)then the family votes on the best and worse singers in the family. I was actually voted the worse and I got a little crown and a scepter! It was fun!

Hi there. My sister had a Casino Party. It was so much fun, and the big winner got a $100 gift certificate to the Outback Steakhouse. They had Texas Two Step, Black Jack, and slot machines. I hope this helps.

I'm not sure about any games, but Wrapperlicious.com has AMAZING and affordable party favors. You can put your brother's picture on the candy wrappers and on the back you can put how much things cost the year he was born. Wrapperlicious favors are AWESOME and they're super easy to work with. Check them out! I will think about some other party ideas for you too.

Wow C., good for you! 40 is a great time to do just about anything. I thought is have a jar and paper & pens, maybe near a sign in 'dog' or book or something he is into. With the paper strips, have everyone write down a memory of your brother and he can read them later. He is great laughter & good memories to read. Love the karaoke idea. That's all i can think of , most be to tired. If i come up with anything else, I'll let ya know.
Best wishes,
R.

This is right up my alley! I love hosting parties and they are so much more fun and memorable when you play games. Keep in mind though that even though most people appreciate and like to play, some people don't. One game we played for my husband's 40th was a true or false game. I made up statements about my husband and our guests had to decide if they were true or false. I also made a list of facts about his favorite actor and the one who guessed who it was won. Another game we play at almost all of our parties is what I call the "Acronym Game". You make up several sheets ahead of time with the letters of the guest of honor's name written vertically. Your guests can make up funny sentences using each letter in the name. If the name is too long you might want to use a nickname or shorten it in some way. Have your guest of honor choose their favorite! Also, I like to give a prize for the winners. Here's a website that I have gotten ideas from that might help you too. http://www.partygamecentral.com/
Have fun and God bless!

We did a soup night and people mingled. My husband didn't want games, and it went very well. With karaoke and food all taken care of, you may not need to plan anything else!
If you are looking for something quick and cute, you could get a bunch of baby pictures and have people guess which one is the birthday boy.

Have everyone, including the kids, come dressed as if it was 1969. Have decorations and displays of his childhood and interests over the past years - his favorite tv shows when he was young, songs, music, sports teams, things you can remember him saying or what he did when he was young, and play his favorite music when he was a teenager I'm guessing in the 80's! Do trivia/did you know info from his birth year or graduation year or whatever. Most likely he will have friends around the same age attending so it will be a trip down memory lane for them too and remembering goofy things from your childhood is best shared with other people!
I guess this stuff can be applied to any birthday, not just 40th. Have fun!

Have the people that are coming dress in the clothes that were worn at that time, play music etc. Have some of the pictures of him up til now out so people can see them, they will laugh and tease about them. Have some of the games that were played, they will talk about what they did at that age also. Maybe a hulla hoop to see who can still do it. Be sure and take all kinds of pictures for later and have fun.
