Need Health Care Coverage for Me - Son's Covered but I Am Not!!

I need to find affordable health insurance for myself. My work offers a plan that costs about $120 per month and it sounds like great coverage, problem is...I cannot get on that plan until July. I need affordable temporary OR permanent coverage at about the same price. I CANNOT afford anything more than @ $190 per month. I do not qualify for governmental assistance....which I cannot believe. I make about $150 per month over the limit - go figure!

I am a non smoker, mom of one, very healthy, 29 yrs old. I would like to get pregnant in the next year or two, so I need coverage that includes maternity. If I have to wait the 365, that is fine with me. I just want the coverage to be good and affordable. If that means waiting a year to get pregnant, I can definitely do that.

My two main concerns are prescription coverage (I take one presc. daily) and maternity coverage, the most immediate concern being prescription. I have checked online for coverage rates through Blue Cross and the cheapest monthly payment I see is about $190, and the coverage is not great. Is there something more affordable and better out there?! Please help!

What can I do next?

I am not sure about insurances but I did notice recently that Walgreens has a prescription plan for over 400 different generics for $1 a week. You might want to check that out in the meantime.

It kills me that you work hard to provide for yourself and your family and then just because you do work you do not qualify for govt. assistance. I better not start on this topic or I will go on and on... this is one of my pet peeves!

I sure hope you find something and soon! You do not want to get caught without it and have something happen! Good luck and many blessings to you and yours!

I use the Health Alliance HMO 90 plan. It includes prescription coverage, office visits, emergency etc for 267 per month. We went with the HMO because it covers maternity immediately rather than the 365 day wait period with PPO plans.

I asked the same question some time back, and was given some wonderful tips. I have used Ameriplan for a couple of years and it is helpful, but you have to be aware that it is a discount not insurance still very affordable and boy was it great for the dentist. I have the same exact problem and applied for the state care twice. My son is insured by them but but not us. WE make two dollars over the limit or something. My husband's job will get insurance in a month so I'm waiting it out.I do not have the information with me right now but if you want the other info send me a note and I will write back later in the day.
