She'll be getting a surprise party (thrown by her family). Another friend said a card is enough. I do have one about turning 40 and wearing the s**t out of a tiara. I guess I could get her a tiara.
It doesn't have to be something for her to have as a keepsake forever. A spa gift card is an amazing gift for pretty much any mom. Find a place that does it all - massages, facials, mani/pedis so she can choose the treatment that she likes best. You can make it even more special by arranging a spa day for her, you and a few friends.
Get a package is dumm dumm suckers. Poke them into a Styrofoam cone so they look Like a floral arrangement. Attach a note that says either "turning 40 sucks" or "turning 40 is sweet" it's a fun thing but not a bank breaker.
If your budget is big enough, have her wear the tiara to a SPA DAY! Or just a mani/pedi.
