I agree that he needs to be seen TODAY. You might need to take him to another doctor. This sounds like a serious reaction to the antibiotics and steroids, and the doctor is not treating him properly.

Go to the Dr.

If you're not satisfied with your current Dr and not getting answers... Find another Dr.

Allergic reactions to medications are not something to mess with at home or searching on the Internet.

Next step is possible breathing issues. Are you going to wait til he can't breathe to call the Dr???

go back to the doctor, and if he brushes you off, go to urgent care, and then find a new doctor.

Call the doctor and tell them it's getting worse and you need to make an appointment.

Take him back to the doctor. Just because the doctor initically thought it was an allergic reaction from antibiotics does not mean that the doctor is correct or that the doctor wouldn't change his/her mind if he/she saw your son now.

If his rash is getting worse, call the doctor and say, "This rash is getting worse. Help!"

Without more information, I think you ought to take your child to the emergency room. Now.

Please call the doctor's office right now and tell them that you are bringing him in and he needs to be seen today. They will probably fuss and say they can't see him, you need to wait, etc.. Don't take that; tell them that the rash is not just worse, there is bruising suddenly appearing. Be firm and insist that they see him. The bruising does not sound like anything that goes with a normal rash. (Unless you know of a good one you already have used, personally, I would avoid walk-in "urgent care centers" as the quality of the care can range from very good to extremely poor. The doctors there are not pediatricians, and may have little experience with what's happening to your son. Just my two cents based on experience with urgent care centers and young kids.)

The doctor may have been initially wrong about the rash being an allergic reaction to antibiotics. Or the new rash/bruising could be some reaction to the steroids that were supposed to help. Or this could be a symptom of some totally separate disease or condition. But the appearance of the bruises should be a concern and should prompt them to see your son today. Is he having any trouble breathing at all, or do his limbs or trunk appear swollen at all? If so -- call them and tell them you are heading to the ER, because swelling or trouble breathing are indicators of a potentially serious reaction to something.

Go back to the doctor. Ask for a referral to a dermatologist.

Sorry to hear about your baby - I would be concerned too.

He's off the antibiotics now I take it? I'm hoping the doctor didn't keep him on them and just gave him steroids as well. He should be off those particular antibiotics. Also did the doctor try Benedryl? If it's not an rash from an allergy, Benedryl won't harm or make it worse.

The rash could also be associated with the illness your son was taking the antibiotics for.

You need to check with your doctor. Especially with bruising. Steroids can cause bruising.
I would call ASAP.

Don't give him anything without consulting your doctor.

Good luck :)
