Need a Life

Outside of the kid and my husband, I have no life. Most of my friends live out of state. Can anyone suggest things I can get involved in or do? I am looking to branch out and meet new people but do not know where or how to begin.

What can I do next?

Do you live in the city? There is a great group called Northside Parents Network NPN. npnparents.org. I have gotten involved in a few things from this group, plus they have great resources for learning about preschool options. I am in the same position. I had my daughter young, while i was in college in CA and now I live here in Chicago with all my friends all over the country too! My daughter is also two, so maybe we could get them together at a park sometime while the weather is nice. Let me know ____@____.com this helps.

Is there something you are intested in? Maybe check the store you would buy those supplies. (Quilting, scrapbooking, knitting, ect.) If those are not quiet what you are looking for, check with your local bowling alley. I joined a team, for just this reason. I don't really care for the bowling, but joining the "Ladies League" helped get me out of the house and I got to meet some people. If you don't know anyone on the league, you can go to the Alley and see if a team is looking for someone or can you offer to sub when a team needs it.

There are a lot of places you can go to find clubs, or groups, you just have to make a point to get out there and find them.
Good luck.

I am in the same boat. I have no life at all. I am from Michigan and all of my friends are there. I am married with two children and my husband has a hard time understanding that I need a life outside of them. If you find a club or if you want to start one, I will be gun ho to start or go with you. It is killing me but my husband don't see that. I have to make time for myself before I go completely bananas. Keep in touch.

I don't have any advice
I just wanted to let you know you're not alone.
I'm in the exact same situation.
I moved out of state, away from all my friends, to live closer to my future mother in law, who watches my son while I'm at class.
I've never been a social butterfly so it hasn't been easy.
I wish you the best of luck
I hope you find true long lasting friendships!

What about a book club? Maybe your local book store or library? My library has a fun chic lit book club that meets at a local Starbucks.

Have you tried meetup.com? Great website for finding a mom's group near you or any other type of social group that you are interested in. I belong to a great mom's group in Oak Park from meetup.com.
Good luck.
