My Face Is on Fire!

I don't know whether it's "hot flashes" or what. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and the past couple days I feel like my face is hot (but it doesn't feel hot to the touch). The rest of my body temp feels normal but I feel like I've stuck my face in front of a fireplace or a heater. It's so uncomfortable. It comes and goes.
Also, I've been waking up from nightmares about not being able to breathe...when I wake up I'm short of breath. I'm not sleeping on my back, I'm using a pregnancy pillow, and my room temp is normal.
Is this hot flashes or what else could it be? This is my second pregnancy and I don't remember this with my first.
Thanks!!!
EDIT:
Thanks for the replies so far. I'm not allergic to anything. Not taking any new meds or using any new face creams or washes. I've changed nothing at all. I just had my drs appointment and my blood pressure was totally normal for me (which is always low anyhow). I see my doctor on Monday so I'll bring it up. If it gets worse or anything changes I'll go in sooner...but I still feel the baby moving constantly and besides those symptoms everything else has been normal and the same. weird I know.

What can I do next?

I had pregnancy induced hypertention and that's what it felt like when my blood pressure spiked. I could also literally feel my heartbeat in my temples. My high blood pressure started at about 31 weeks. If you can, go to a drugstore or to the doc to have your blood pressure checked. I think the nightmares are pretty normal though.

I've never heard of this before. So, my recommendation would be to contact your OB/GYN and see if they've encountered it.

Have you started using any new medications (even OTC products for cleansing your skin) that you may be having an allergic reaction to?

The shortness of breath would be my main concern. If I were in your situation, I'd be calling the doctor to make sure everything is OK.

Good luck.

Hi!

I heard that you get alot if nightmares in your third trimester and I think the "Hot Flashes" could have something to do with hormones, I had the same but not as bad just in spots on my face! Every pregnancy is different, I had to girls and both of them were so different it was amazing how each pregnancy is so different! Bring it up to your OBGYN next app. Good Luck! :O)

I would call the doc asap. Ask about thyroid, hormone levels, and if your taking extra niacin that can give your face a flushing (but I'm not sure if it feels hot too). Does this only happen at certain times of the day. Does your husband notice anything different that he might be thinking its just because she is pregnant, ask him. Are you allergic to anything? eaten anything new, started new supplements or meds. You can always flush your body with water to get anything out by drinking a ton. See if you can get to your doc today before you flush with water so you don't dilute anything in case he does blood work. Sounds like thyroid or allergic to something to me. Ask the doc to check all of the above. Good luck

My first thought is that you should have your blood pressure checked. Especially if you haven't started using/taking/eating anything new in your routine...Good luck!
