Lotrimin also comes in a cream form which is what our ped. told us to use. Try also just to give her as much time without a diaper on and really let her dry out after a bath. Sometimes it can take two weeks for it to clear so don't give up using the cream thinking it isn't working.

Lotromin - it's actually for foot fungus but works as well. Good luck!

You can buy lotrimin foot powder, its antifungal.
Also known as clotrimazole

give her some yougurt,with active cultures,

let a little air get at it. ( maybe keep her diaper off for a few hours)

And wipe her bum with a warm wash cloth and clean water.
NOT the wipes because they have alcohol in them and can irritate.

I think the otc cream you are looking for is called Lotrimin AF but I would double ck that with the pharmacist

Take her to the local hospital!!!!!!!! yeast infections can travel through the entire body.....Personally I wouldn't wait till you come back to the states especially being your daughter is so young...Being women we know how they feel just imagine on a baby who couldn't tell you that she's uncomfortable what she must be going through.

Ack!!! Your poor little girl! Get her off of ALL diary and possibly gluten. Yeast is the sign of a diary intolerance. We are the only "animal" on the planet that drinks another animals milk continually. Diary can be found in anything from the obvious: milk, cheese, ice cream...to bread, cakes, sauces... If you're concerned about calcium intake for her, you'll find it in greens. Yep, I know kids and green, but if you're eating them, they'll eventually eat them.

Good luck! This has been something that I've been dealing with within my own home and holistic nutrition practice. It's hard because we're bombarded by the media and the diary industry.

Oh...take a look at your own dealings with yeast infections. How often they've shown up and if you had it anytime near the delivery of your daughter. Yeast also shows up as cradle cap and red, itchy skin blotches.

I know getting off of the above isn't the short term answer you need, but it'll create health in the long term.

I am not sure what the otc cream would be for yeast infections, nothing that would be suitable for a toddler anyway. I don't know if a doctor would perscribe the same thing as he would for an adult. Can you call your doctor or your pharmacy and ask what you can use until you get home?

I was wondering if your doctor told you anything on how to avoid these infections? I have never had any problems with my kids, I have 4, but one of my daughters at like 10 years old had a UTI and we were told it was from bubble baths. We stopped using bubbles and she never had another one.

To avoid infections in the future, maybe switching wipes or diapers, bath every other day, and make sure all soap is rinsed off, if needed, wipe her with a wipe before putting on her diaper.

Is it a topical cream? Is it a yeast-based rash or an internal yeast infection?

I see that you have called your doctor already, and I hope your daughter is feeling better soon. I just wanted to add...I see someone suggested foot powder for the rash. Please do not ever use foot powder in your daughters diaper area. It contains Talc, and Talc is known to cause cervical cancer. If she were my child I would use the cream suggested by your doctor and then top that off with some corn starch powder or just plain old kitchen corn starch.

This may sound weird, but yogurt works as well (plain). Also, keep in mind that bubble baths can cause yeast infections.

I used to use something called Caldesene (sp?) powder on my kids butts when they were little. I haven't seen it around in a while but it might be something you would want to look for. It used to have an anti-fungal ingredient in it. It came in a pink colored round container.

There is this stuff called Columbia powder. It has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. That might help, and in the future it might even help prevent the yeast rash if you use it as soon as she gets diarrhea.

As a suggestion, eliminate any dairy, sugar and yeast products that your daughter consumes or you (if you are breastfeeding), as these types of foods build yeast in the body.
