I am a 26 year old that is almost 9 weeks pregnant with my third child. I have had lots of nausea and lots of throwing up. my first doctor appointment isn't until the 24th of this month due to them having to reshedule twice but i love my doctor. They said to try crackers, preggo pops, etc ginger snaps etc.... it isn't helping.i can make a meal for the family or go out to eat and I don't feel the urge of being hungry and wanting to eat but I make myself eat at least some also, i use to drink dr.pepper all the time and i have backed off of them and will only drink one about once every two weeks.
I can eat some sliced apples and do okay for a while, or have an icee and do alright for a little while.
any other ideas?????

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I recalled my ob's office today and they instructed me to take emetrol for two days and see if it helps. If it doesn't then they will prescribe me something!
Thanks for all the advice!

i don't know what else to tell you, but the 24th seems like a LONG time for you to be waiting - you'll be done with the first trimester before your first appt? if you're having that much trouble, i'd insist that they see you in the office asap. good luck, hope you're feeling better soon!

Man oh man, do I know how you feel. Call your OB & see if they'll call in a prescription for Zofran; mine was willing to do that when I was sick but was still awaiting my appt. Also, make sure you're getting some protein & not letting your stomach get too empty. I found the Preggie Pops waaaay too sweet, personally. Sipping unsweetened iced tea with lots of lemon in it seemed to help a bit.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

I'm so sorry!!! I had horrible all day sickness with all four of mine (and actually lost 10-15 lbs. the first trimester of my first pregnancy) I agree with the posters about Zofran, it didn't make it 100% better but it took the edge off. Also try the nausea (motion sickness) wristbands. You can find them at Walgreens. I don't know if it was psychological or not but I was willing to try anything. Also try chewing peppermint gum or sucking on peppermint candies. Peppermint is a natural stomach soother. And I agree with the other posters try to eat as much protein in the am as you can tolerate.

My nausea was so extreme I could not even keep down fluids for weeks at a time. I was very frustrated with the suggestions I got (i.e. what to eat, etc.) NOTHING worked, and my Dr. was very hesitant to give me medication for it. Finally after being hospitalized for dehydration he gave me BOTH phenergan and zophran. For me, neither worked alone. But, I would take 4mg of zophran in the am, since it disolves in your mouth I couldn't throw it up. When it kicked in I would take 12.5 mg of phenergan every 4 hours. At lunch, another 4 mg of zophran, and continued with phenergan every 4 hours. That at least allowed me to keep down fluid and very bland foods. After researching what you feel is safe for you I would just suggest being very stern with your Dr. and the treatment plan you want.

I totally feel for you! I had horrible morning sickness that lasted my entire pregnancy. My doctor actually suggested that I take a unisom and a B6 vitamin daily and it really helped! I would take them every night and could tell a huge difference. I kept thinking that the morning sickness would go away and I would be able to stop taking it, but as soon as I did the nausea was back. Good luck and feel better!

OK, I totally..totally feel your pain!!! Zofran can be a lifesaver, and even if the dr. wont see you, maybe he will call in the prescription. Also, for me, a little protien in the am helps..sadly, a sausage biscuit from McDonalds really can do the trick on those rough mornings!! I also want to suggest a baked potato. In the produce dept. they sell potatos that are shrink wrapped and can be microwaved in about 7 minutes. Those too, are my sanity some days!! Prego pops etc do nothing for me, so when people suggest those things, I sort of laugh:) I also like to keep almonds or other nuts around, and those help by a small handful, just to keep something in my stomach. Stick with the icees..those always helped. Ohh, and drinks from sonic, a cherry limeade with their fabulous ice to suck on helped keep me a bit hydrated. I hope you find some relief soon, but I agree, you need to get more help from the dr.!! ~A.~
