Hello beautiful moms!

With performing the daily balancing acts of nurturer, provider, educator, wife, chef, etc., etc., what do you require to maintain your sanity and happiness? Or what would you LIKE to do if given the opportunity? I ask this because we give so much of ourselves to our families, it is good to think about what we need as moms to continue to be the superwomen we are! I'm also just curious as to what keeps us going! LOL!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ladies, these are awesome responses! I like ALL these ideas. It really lifts my spirits reading these and I'm sure it lifts yours too. Oooh, I'd love to do the Radio City Music thing at Christmas time! I also love broadway shows and musicals. I love good music. I also dream of getting a female acapella group together soon to sing - just for fun for starters! The next thing I'm working on is dream boards that depict ideal scenes for each part of my life. These are SO MUCH FUN! I look forward to doing a dream board party in the near future where we moms have our magazines and other decorating materials, put on some nice music and have healthy snacks and share our dream boards with one another! Thanks, ladies, for sharing your dreams! Make them happen continuously!

For me it would be meeting more moms/women who understand where I am. It seems like the only moms I can find are SAHM who don't want to get together at night/weekends when I can. All of my other friends have either moved away or don't have kids. I'd also give a limb to have someone I could swap sitting with!!!!

I too dream of a proffesional massage, lol. I get one about once a year, but it's NOT enough! A live-in housekeeper and clone would also be nice. :)

I'd like to go get my nails done/pedicure and see a movie (sans kids) once a month or so. I think that would really help me feel like I was taking care of me too.....

I know it's sad, but working out. It's me time and double benefit of keeping in shape. I love massages and/or facials, I try to get one every 6 months as a special treat. The one thing I love is my pedicures every 2-3 weeks. Again, it's me time and I go with my mom so we get to spend time together and gossip, gripe, etc. I have learned that I am a much better person when I get "me" time. It's better for everyone involved, and I think my husband would definitely agree.

Dr. Pepper, the occasional glass of wine. I dream of a professional weekly massage, but I can keep dreaming. Oh I agree with Amanda - orgasms!

A daily cup of coffee is a must. You don't wanna know me if I don't get my morning caffeine fix. Lol! I think it also helps lift my mood if once in a while, I treat myself to a new outfit or a pedicure so I can feel like a woman and not just a mom. I dream of a professional massage or a vacation to a quiet beach where I can sit back and relax with my husband and a margarita. :)

I try to go out with one of my good friends at least once a month and have a date night my husband at least once a month. My husband & I also watch a lot of movies together once the kids are in bed. I'm a stay at home mom and luckily my husband is very understanding of my need to get out every once in a while. I usually get to go grocery shopping a couple times a week by myself. We joke it's my "me time"

What keeps me going are my mom and my girlfriends. Once a month I go out with my girlfriends for a day in New York, Cirque du soleil at the Harbor, ziplining, etc. I also do things with my mom like going with her to Radio City's Christmas Spectacular or to the casinos to hang out. Restaurant weeks or spa weeks are also nice ways to treat yourself. There is so much!

The only thing I give to myself is the hour less sleep in the morning since I started adding more hours to my week. Should I not do this, I would never get even 10 mins to myself. However, by getting up at 5:30 instead of 6:30, I am giving myself a whole hour to just me before I have to start with my day.

I do a couple of things to stay sain. One is paint my nails at night. The kids are in bed and it only takes a few min. I cant afford a professional manicure very often so this is a nice solution to that. My favorite thing to do is take a class at the local community college or other community plan. The offer classes at night and on weekends if you want the hubby to watch the kids. They are pretty cheep, it gets you out of the house, and adult conversation is always a plus. My last suggestion is "mommies turn". I have 4 girls so we are pretty busy here, and a lot of times they forget that I need a turn to read my own book, or use the bathroom, or what ever it is. Once I started to explain that mommies and daddies need a turn too, they started to respect me a little more. I tell them that I cant take very good care of them, if I don't take care of myself too. It takes a while but they get it.

A cup of coffee most mornings, a shower most nights, and a date night with hubby once a month. We swap kids with our friends for free child care. We also take a walk as a family most nights after dinner. The baby sleeps, our toddler chills in the stroller with his stuffed animal, and hubby and I get a little quiet time to talk.

I want to go on a vacation to Greece and some really cool architectural places for a few days (I love different architectural genres; greek/gothic). Simpler things like nails, getting my hair done would be nice. I would love to just go shopping and get lots of new pretty clothes :)
A daily thing I'd just like to have some time to myself in the morning to take a relaxing shower and actually do my hair/ straighten my hair :D
Before my best friend was pregnant we'd go dancing once a month or so which was nice to have the grandparents watch my lil girl and go dancing.

I like Erica M's answer of an hour of me time in the morning, I wish I could pry myself out of bed for it... its a good solution.

I am a working mom and like most married working mothers balance is key. I ready all the comments and they are wonderful! Bethany C A live-in housekeeper would be wonderful but since my 17 y/o didn't get a job this summer I am making her earn her keep LOL & Amanda G "orgasms" made me laugh but it is true. I take a van pool to work instead of sitting in traffic, this cuts my commute by 30 min also allowing me to read, take a nap ect and now that I get to work 45 min early I get to work out before I start my day.

oh, where to begin...LOL! Since my baby STILL wakes up between 3 and 4 times a night at 12 months old, my BIGGEST wish to maintain my sanity and happiness right now would be a nice, long, uninterrupted stretch of sleep. More practically, I make a point to simply get out of the house, alone, everyday. My husband knows I'm a much better mom and wife if he watches our baby even for 45 minutes so I can take a power walk, talk with a friend, shop, etc...whatever it is I need to do. I also make sure to find a time when he's home to shower or bathe. I fill the tub with bubbles, and sometimes light a candle, bring a cup of tea in the bathroom, or a book, and just relax for 30 minutes. :) Sometimes, I bake as a way to relax...I like the creative process of mixing ingredients and having a finished product 30 minutes later (plus, a warm, gooey brownie tends to make everything feel a bit better. :))
