Hi
Do any of you have any suggestions for a good cold medicine for adults? I use to take Drixoral that worked wonders for me but it isnt being sold right now. My problem is I ALWAYS get very bad sinus colds. Severe stuffy nose, sometimes both nasal passages are swelled. I use to use Afrin nose spray as well, but I really dont like to use that and plus you can only use it for a 3 days and most of the time my cold lasts long. I have tried the little red Sudefed but that never did anything. So any ideas for relief with this stuffy runny nose? Hurry Please!!! It will be bedtime soon and I might want to run out to get something so I can sleep!!!

What can I do next?

Believe it or not, a tea made from sage will dry that runny nose. That's garden sage or culinary sage (Salvia officinalis), not the native white sage used for ceremonial smudging. I assume you are not nursing (sage tea would dry up the milk supply as well).

There are a number of herbs that will boost your immune system and help you fight your colds off better, but it sounds like you are looking for just sleep relief right now...

WE always keep a box of Gypsy Cold Care tea at hand. There are also variety boxes of these teas, one for throat, one for nose, one for lungs ect ect.
I think they are made by Yogi teas and you should be able to find them in organic food section of your grocery store.
If not there, then at any health food store.
I have always been tormented by chronic allergic rhinitis.
I use a saline wash to clear my sinuses.
There is a spray called OCEAN which also does a pretty good job.
I have never found a pill that helped. I have scripts for nasal sprays, Fluticasone and some of the others. They work well most of the time but not so good with a cold. The teas are much more effective then.
You can take a baby enema syringe and mix a bit of sea salt in lukewarm water....bend over the sink and spray straight up your nose into the sinuses. That is great at night.
WIsh you the best and God bless.

Have you tried the sinu-cleanse netipot? People say it works wonders but it is weird at first because you are pooring saline water into one nostril and letting it dribble out the other, but it cleanses your sinuses. Also take advil because it reduces the swelling which causes mucus. Good luck!!
