Hi K.:
I would avoid talking about your family life as much as possible in interviews. Discrimination against moms is illegal but it's an unfortunate reality in this society's unflexible working culture. Go to www.MomsRising.org and pose your question to the experts there for some suggestions on how to steer clear of family-related questions, such as those you mentioned above, and take action against discriminatory policies. I wish I could help you on your job search, but all I can say is keep your eyes on all the job boards and interview smart. Good luck!

I understand your dilemma, I have a college degree and have yet to use it. I graduated 5 years ago when my daughter was 1 and have been an at-home-mom since. I send resumes, I have interviews but they never go anywhere. I decided to go with a job I can do with my kids. I am an Independent Consultant for Usborne Books and I absolutely LOVE it. I do home shows but mostly I focus on selling to schools. I am hoping to branch out to public libraries after Christmas. I do what I can with my son and what I can't I schedule while my son is in Preschool. It doesn't take much time, the product is something you will want around for your kids anyway and you are talking to the people you probably spend most of your time with anyway, moms. Check out my site at www.feed-a-brain.com. If you are interested at all or just have more questions e-mail me at ____@____.com Usborne in the subject line so I know it is you. Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.

I have a 15 month old daughter, who I stay home with full-time, and have just recently become a Pampered Chef consultant. I do cooking demonstrations at home parties with amazing kitchen products. I absolutely love it!! I make about $20-$25 / hour and work for myself. You can do with this business what you'd like - it is very flexible. I work when she naps and then go to my parties a few nights a month when my husband comes home from work. The Pampered Chef is really an unbelievable company. The support that I have received from everyone that I have met has been incredible. Some people became consultants to take the place of their full-time jobs, while others did it to pay off a credit card or get out of the house. If you (or anyone else) are interested in finding out more information, please feel free to e-mail me at ____@____.com or check out my personal website at www.pamperedchef.biz/kellyleroy.
