my almost 3 yr old has started this thing when i come in the cat meows at me wanting petted. so instead of a hug i get a toddler on the floor on all 4s meowing at me. so i pet him on the head and tell him he is a good kitty. :) what kind of silly things are your kids doing? my oldest didnt go through this phase. and he follows me through the house meowing at me wanting petted if the cat lays on my lap he does too and just meows at me.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

i am so glad to know i am not the only one with more than one type of pet in the house. its such a cute phase and i was starting to wonder about him but it seems pretty normal i guess for this age bracket. :) thanks for sharing your stories.

Cute!!! My son is 17 months and he and I have this thing when he is in his high chair, we scrunch faces and just kind of stare at each other. It's cute. I also made the finger pop noise in my mouth. . . no other way to describe it .. . and he tries to do that too. It's adorable!

LOL....the funniest thing that I can remember doesn't really involve one of my children but one of the young children at church. We were having Wed. night supper, it involved chips or fritos , this little boy ( about 3 years old) had finished eating and was crawling around on the floor under the table. He came up to me and barked like a dog and "begged"....I patted him on the head and gave him a frito as a "treat". This continued for the rest of the dinner hour. For the next 5 or 6 years, each time he would see me at church ( it is a small church so he saw me every Sunday...no crowd to get lost in) he would come up to me and say "You are the one who fed me like a dog" and we would laugh and hug each other. I can hear him now...at my funeral...."she is the one who fed me like a dog when I was 3 years old"!!!!

Ive been living in a revolving door zoo since my daughter was about 2 1/2...she tells me I'm Piper kitty, or I'm Piper Puppy or right now I'm being Piper, no animals :) Good thing she keeps me up to speed! He best friend has been a horse for about a year now, if we need to get out the door her mom says Giddy Up Laken Horse...Its too funny and it shows excellent imagination. Good post :)

Same thing here,, My 3 1/2 yr old grand daughter has been some animal or another nearly everyday since she was 2. We play along and it's a riot. When her M. brings her over she is wrapped in a big blanket and we have to pretend to be all surprised when the "egg" hatches and guess what animal has just been born on the couch! It's harmless and fun. It shows their imagination and lets them be kids. I love it!

my 19mnth old went through this phase when he was a year old where he would flip through his animal book and make noises for the animals he knew. when he got to the cat pic he would roar, we would say no a kitty goes meow, he would shake his head roar again and giggle

At that age my son was a different superhero every day and if I didn't call him by his superhero name he would get mad. (ie; the Hulk, Superman, Spiderman etc.) He would even dress in the costumes and take on the whole persona, it was really funny. Especially when one time I put him to bed, he came out in full batman costume and told me "batman doesn't have a bedtime". I said "well batman's mom says he does". It's great to encourage their imagination and makes for fun stories later!

HAHAHA thats so funny and ironic, my 2 year old daugher loves animals... she'll get on all fours and meow and I'll do that too, pet her and say what a cute kitty. She says not anymore mommy, then barks and I'll pet her and say oh your a cute doggy. She says not now mommy, then roars and I'll say Oh your a cute little lion. She laughs and says I'm a monster or dinosaur and starts talking in her monster voice, which is a raspy voice lol. She does some crazy things.

This is funny but maybe some moms will cringe, me and my best friend in high school used to try to lick each others faces and it was a game with us. I taught my daughter the game and she comes and tries to lick my face and vice versa, she'll chase me around the house and I'll chase her around the house. She doesn't do it to anyone else, I made it clear it was only a me and her game cuz my dad was like ewww haha. It's funny though, she laughs hysterically while doing it.

My baby girl is bein' real goofy lately, but I find it totally funny.
Randomly, throughout the day, she will hold on to one arm of the lazy boy and spin herself around and around. I know I should probably stop her, but she giggles the whole time, which gets me laughing and I can't help but to just watch her.
And when I asked her..."Do you want a doggy, or for mommy to have a baby?" her reply was....."DOGGY!" Whatta smart girl! ;)
I think she's in her silly phase.
