My husband won a trip to Maui from his company. We have a year to take it. Does anyone know of any good sites to research? I googled but, a lot of business promoting came up and we are not sure who is a good one! Any other tips or favorite places to eat would be great too! Thank you!

What can I do next?

You could take the Hana highway (crazy little road) to the volcano and then visit Lahaina (I think that's what it's called) it's a cute shopping area. It's where the Planet Hollywood is (or was if it's not there anymore)

I lived in Maui for a year. I don't know any sites but I would recommend staying on the Lahaina/Napili/Kapalua side. There is a restaurant on the west side on Lower Honoapiilani called "The Gazebo". You have to go there. There's always a line but it's set up on a cliff overlooking the ocean. If you go at the right time of year, you'll see the whales. Downtown Lahaina is touristy but fun. You'll have to see the Banyan Tree. Good luck with your internet search.

Hi S., congratulations on your trip. You are one lucky person. Maui is so beautiful. I would highly highly recommend a book called, "Maui Revealed". It is the best resource by far for all parts of Maui. The people that wrote it are just regular people who lived and visited Maui and made a point to try everything in Maui and wrote this book. I have heard from tons of people that have used it as a resource for their Maui trip. You can find it on Amazon.com really cheap: http://www.amazon.com/Maui-Revealed-Ultimate-Guidebook-Se...

I read it before my husband and I went and am so thankful I used it as my resource. And I have given it to many of my friends and family who have also found it a wonderful read for those visiting the beautiful island of Maui. My personal favorite place to stay is Kapalua. But anywhere in that vacinity is gorgeous. Make sure you read up on your different options.

Best of luck to you. You can always email me and I can suggest many restaurants and activities.

We stayed at the Napili Point Resort, it was a condo and it had a beach that you could walk to. It is out of the way and not near all of the big resorts. We enjoyed it - it was nice and quiet. I saw that someone mentioned "The Gazebo" to eat at. I would highly recommend that. It is with in walking distance of where we stayed and they have the best white chocolate chip pancakes. The line is long but totally worth the wait. We watched the sea turtles and had a awesome view while we were eating. Have fun!

Hi, I am planning a trip to Kauai next January and I found a great website with activities all over Hawaii including Maui. I booked a couple of activities already including zip line tour and tubing. The prices are great. The website is http://www.hawaiiwebdesign.com/maui_activities.htm

We just got back yesterday from Maui. We stayed in Kahana in in West Maui and loved it! We loved to go into Lahaina at night to eat out and Whaler's village shopping/dining in Kannapali it wonderful. You must get the book Maui Revealed. It was a Godsend and we couldn't have gotten along without it. Enjoy!

The Ultimate Guide to Maui is a good way to get to know the island before you visit. I would recommend going down to Barnes & Noble and looking through it first. It is right on with all the site seeing and restaurant reviews. It should give you info on beaches, surf, finding waterfalls, activities, etc. You are going to have soooo much fun! I just came back from a weeklong trip to the Big Island. My Husband and my 18 mo. old daughter and I had a wonderful time. If you need any travel tips let me know. I pre-planned everything and I could not have done a better job of it. It was a wonderful, relaxing, stress free trip.
