Mamapedia Acronyms

Acronyms feel stilted to me. I'd prefer just typing the word. DH? are all husbands dear? I loved my husband but he would've told me to knock it off with the dear. lol I never thought of my daughter or now my grandchildren as dear. It just feels so old fashioned and out of step with the times.

It's easy to tell when people are calling their dear husband a d*ckhead. It's all about the tone.

Don't feel bad for using DH for darling or dear husband. You see DS or DD and those are dear (or darling) son and dear (or darling) daughter.

my DD's fell on my DS, and my DH is PO'd. He says GTFO and now I am in DPS. FML haha LOL JK

What's funny is if I'm mad at my husband I have absolutely no problem spelling out the word D-I-C-K-H-E-A-D if that's the word that fits him at the time!!!!

But in all honesty, I don't understand the use of acronyms on here. It's not like we're texting or anything!

DH is "dear" or "darling husband."

I've never seen it used as "dickhead."

I have seen SO's (significant other) called "idiot" quite often, so perhaps "IH" would be a good addition to the MMP acronym list.

I've wondered the same thing. I always thought it meant dear untill I saw otherwise. But then usually you can tell.

I tend to stay away from these mostly.

Someone said to say dear is old fashion and out of step with time. Calling someone dear is about your heart not time. I don't usually speak this word but use it in letter writing and even now and then with my sweet little ones, such as saying, "dear one" or "dear child" especially at the end of a sentence or explanation. The word darling doesn't come out for me though.

Don't feel bad, I'm sure no one took it to mean anything but dear or darling husband.
