Looking to Upgrade My Princess Cut Center Stone/ Diamond on My Engagement Ring

I am looking to upgrade my princess cut diamond on my engagement ring. It is a vs2/G .54 princess cut diamond. I want to trade it in and upgrade to a bigger stone (around 1.00) of the same cut a clarity. Has anyone done this? Do you have a jeweler that does this? (Buys a stone from you as long as you buy a bigger one from them.) I am looking for someone reputable and honest. I have an appraisal on my ring so I know about how much the diamond is worth.

What can I do next?

My husband is a jeweler. He does that. Please see my listing here on mamasource in the listings section (I think you can find it by clicking my name) or pm me for the name of the store.

I have a jeweler that offers that to me and I have never taken him up on it because my engagement/wedding ring has more sentimental value than monetary value.
Just my opinion.

Yes you can trade up...However, let's say for example your ring was appraised at $3000..then if you go to trade it in for a bigger stone you will need to look at a stone that is 2x what your ring was appraised at...$60000. You would then pay the additional $3000 after trade in if that makes sense. Your current stone is a very good color and clarity so don't compromise when you are looking.

I have not done this, but I am pretty sure that Richard's Jewelers in Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, IL does this. He is a very honest and reputable jeweler and we have bought many nice, quality pieces from him. We always deal with him, too, which I like.
