as already being previously married, we wanted a simple run to courthouse wedding. I have 2 daughters (13 and 5), who want us to have a wedding. Someone suggested a train in Osceola, WI that was reasonably priced ($600 for the private train car). We are trying to keep it simple and do it yet this year (date is flexible). Do you know of any ideas like the train, that are unique, fun for kids, and simple? Thanks much!!

What can I do next?

My brother had his in his backyard. It was really relaxed and nice. He had the ceremony in front of some hydrangia bushes, catered food served inside, buffet style with seating outside. After everyone ate, a vollyball net went up along with several other game areas. They had seating so that people could chat or just watch people play. It was really nice and it didn't even rain! (Seattle, WA area)

What about a fall wedding outside? You would have the beautiful leaves of all color. Pumpkins, squash, gords, etc. I think it would be cute. You can use trick or treat bags as favors.

November, have a turkey wedding. I mean serve Turkey as your meal. Maybe deep fried as Turkey would be on sale. Again use the fall colors.

Get married at a Haunted House?

December you can use the Christmas Tree's and pointceitta flowers? Have snow flakes and winter wonderland.

Congrats!!!

When are you getting married? If it will still be warm (possibly) you could have it at a park. I know someone who just did a Mears Park wedding and someone else who did Central Park in Roseville. Also if you want inside pictures if you did do the court house wedding, you could check into the Central Park in Woodbury (part of the library) It's very pretty inside and many couples do their wedding pics there.

My husband and I got married at the chapel in the Mall of America. It was around $500 and very nice. Afterward you could go out to eat or take your kids on some rides!
Congrats, and have fun!

If you want to do it soon, you could try The Little Farmer. They're an apple orchard, and do hayrides through the woods, have fields of pumpkins, and all that fun stuff. They also have a large play area for the kids, and super yummy pies. It could be a neat thing if you wanted to do a fall themed wedding. It's beautiful out there, and I don't think they've ever had a wedding there before.
It's located in WI also, so it may be a bit far for you to go, but any type of place like that near you may work. Otherwise, if you're willing to travel, they have a website.

No idea if money is an issue or not... but how about a cruise? Go on a Caribbean cruise! Do a little ceremony on deck. Or maybe do one on the beach. Doesn't even really need to be "official". Just get it done at the court house before you leave and then do the un"official" ceremony on the deck/beach. Write your own vows and say them to each other in front the kiddies. They'll love it. Maybe have your new hubby write something up to say to the kids as well. Something like "I promise to take you girls into my heart and cherish you for all time."

Another thought is getting married at an Apple Orchard on a sunny fall day. Use a row of apple trees as the "church aisle". Have it very casual. I know there is an orchard in Minnetonka... I think it's called Minnetonka Orchards. They have this great little gazebo out in the woods. So cute! That would be a great place for a small wedding. Check it out...
