My friend and her sister have decided to pass on a shower for their second babies and want to do a fun girl's day out. Her hope is "to get people together and do a day at some kind of spa/massage place and/or a meal before/after/during. We need to find a good spa/massage places (that cater to preggos, of course) that would be centrally located between Rochester & Cambridge - ie, somewhere in the cities that is easy to get to, and preferably near a place to eat." I'm thinking North and/or East Metro, maybe near MOA???
Any help is much appreciated!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the tips, gals! I forwarded all your info to my friend so that she and her sister can make the final decision. I think we'll be getting together in about 3 weeks, and I'm sooooo looking forward to it! Thanks again!

Have you thought about putting one together in someone's home? Everyone can bring a dish, have a massage therapist come in and bring the spa there? The reason I ask is because I can put this together for you and your girls, I have a close friend, who is a massuese and I do spa parties!! It is really relaxing and fun... plus you can cater to your needs for food, close to a clean bathroom!! If you want to chat about ideas give me a call or email me... ###-###-#### or ____@____.com

I'm sorry I don't know any names of places, but most spa's will have pregnancy pads for massages. All you have to do is tell them you need them. They are awesome, I've had around 5 massages while pregnant. I'm a retired massage therapist due to
3 kids:) P.S. can I come, I could use a massage.

good luck and enjoy.

I would highly recommend the Sanctuary salonspa. It is an Aveda Salon in Eden Prairie just off of 494 and 212/HWY5 area. There are several restaurants right there as well (i.e. Jakes, Champps, Old Chicago, then several in the Eden Priarie Mall such as well-Wildfire, Friday's, Biaggi's, etc.) The actual address is 995 Prairie Center Drive, EP 55344 and the number is ###-###-####.
I actually had a massage there when I was 8.5 months pregnant and it was spectacular!!! I went to Megan Bauer. Not sure if she is there still, but I plan to schedule myself another appointment for this pregnancy as well (cerrently almost 5 months along).
Good luck!

Hi! I'm the massage therapist at Lavender Lane Salon and Spa in New Brighton. (Just off 694 and Silver Lake Road.) I have advanced training in pregnancy massage. We also have a fabulous esthetician (facials, nails, etc.). She and I have done in-home spa parties and now the salon is branching out to do salon-based parties. We're near many good places to eat, although we can also have food brought in. If you'd like more info, please feel to call. ###-###-####

PS No matter where you go, please be sure that they aren't going to have you lying on your stomach if you're more than 13 weeks. Some places have pillows with holes for your abdomen, but I believe they're h*** o* your body and your baby. Make sure they practice "side lying" massage, which uses special pillows so you lay on your side with your baby fully supported.

I have been going to Aveda New Reflections in Plymouth at 55 and 494. It's been great! I have been going once a mth and it's been really helpful - especially the first one I had at the end of my first trimester. She explained to me so many things that I needed to know! They also do have one in Maple Grove as well but I'm not sure if they have preggo massages there.

We just had a massage therapist talk at our MOMS Club business meeting, and she specializes in infant and pregnancy massage. She came highly recommended by a friend, and I really liked her. Her office is based in Maple Grove, but she'll do on-site massages if that city doesn't require a separate license. (Otherwise she'd have to get licensed in ALL the cities in addition to Maple Grove.)

I've been to ReVamp in Uptown for a spa day. I THINK they have the cushions so you can lay on your tummy, but you'd have to confirm. What they will do is order lunch so you can eat during your spa experience. They have pretty reasonable packages.

The Replenish package is a pretty good deal. I like that they put you in a robe, and treat you like a queen while you are there :)

Good luck!
