Hi ladies,
I'm looking for a new Pediatrician. We currently go to a large practice where we see several different doctors. I feel very rushed the majority of times and I don't feel supported in a lot of my decisions or concerns. I would really like a doctor who supports some holistic practices & delayed/selective vaccinations. I live on the East side of Orlando in Avalon Park but will travel across town for a good doc. My insurance provider is Humana. I would GREATLY appreciate any recommendations you can provide.

What can I do next?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pediatrician, Dr. Hayne. He is with Physician Associates in Waterford Lakes. My son has had many health problems since birth so we have spent a lot of time with him and he is great and his nurse Terri who takes all the calls that come with with questions or test results or prescriptions is so wonderful. She always returns my calls in a very timely manner and is very patient and listens to me and answers my questions. When my husband takes my son in it's always a dilemma because he forgets to ask questions so I call Terri before the appointment and tell her what is going on and then she calls me after it's over and tells me what happened... just in case my husband leaves out a detail or two. She's great. I really feel that my son gets the quality care he needs there. Their number is ###-###-####.

I would highly recommend the FRANZ CENTER. But it's not close to you, since it's near downtown - facing Orange Avenue, just South of Michigan Avenue. Dr. Franz is quirky and not real touchy-feely, but she's very competent and very experienced with special needs children, so she's very open to the whole delayed vaccination schedule. We've done it this way with our second, as our first daughter is mildly autistic. They're also big on the homeopathic remedies and probiotics with antibiotic administration, etc.

In particular, we like Diana Smith, a nurse practitioner who works there. I see her most of the times because she's VERY knowledgeable and more personable than Dr. Franz. But the practice as a whole is good. They don't have great extended hours, though. Good luck!

When I first moved to the Winter Park area, I too had problems finding a good doctor for my son. The first place I took him was horrible, the wait, the service, everything. Then a friend recommended Dr. Farzana Khan ###-###-#### - 201 N Lakemont Ave Ste 500, Winter Park, FL. I took my son and never looked back...LOL :) My son loves going to see her and the service is great. They are very helpful if you need help and Ive never had to wait more then 15 after my appointment. She is located across the street from Florida Hospital Winter Park. As far as I know she accepts most insurances also. Hope you find a Dr. that you and your son are happy with.

Hi, I use Dr Aneesa Ahmad. Her office is off of Maitland Ave (off of 436 before the Altamonte mall). We do not vax at all, I'm still nursing dd (18mo), we co-sleep, cloth diaper, the whole nine...My Dr is so supportive of everything I chose and even said to me,"I'm curious to see how much healthier she is than other children raised in the mainstream fashion." She is Indian, full on head dress and everything. She won't even buy bread here, she orders it from overseas. Totally cool chick! Some of her nurses have given me flak but I just tell them that I am here to see the DR LOL I really really really like Dr. Ahmad. HTH
