Looking for Help with Biracial Baby Hair
Hello all,
I am white and my partner is black. Our daughter has lovely, curly hair. She is 20 months old and her hair is just getting past my current coping strategies. Currently I condition it every evening in the bath and then comb it when it is wet and freshly conditioned. It is becoming clear that it needs combing more often now.
I would love to find a product to spray in her hair to help comb it when it is dry. The problem is that I am unwilling to put toxic or unknown and scary chemicals on her. Does anyone know of any natural and/or organic products that are likely to help?
Thanks for any advice you have to offer.

I know of this great hair product, that is all natural and no chemicals what so ever. I use for my child's hair and it works great. www.carolsdaughter.com and just look under the hair section. Have a blessed day

Hi E.,
I love that your wrote this request. When I was in high school all of the black/white mixed kids got together and started calling ourselves the "halfricans." We had a whole fantasy about openning a hair salon where we would teach mommies how to handle their biracial children's hair (each of us specializing in kids with hair most like our own) :-)
Anyway, Your little one's hair sounds like mine (just a little softer and a bit curlier than the curliest of white peoples hair) Here are my suggestions:
1) Don't wash it unless its actually dirty(maybe once a week).
2) Get a little spray bottle and fill it with plain water. Use this to get her hair damp in the morning, then just put a little leave in conditioner on your fingers and comb with your fingers.
3) Try to work with it only when it's wet and the curls will stay nice. If you do it dry, the curls will break up, it will look frizy and her hair will start breaking.
Hope this helps. You daughter sounds just beautiful.

hey!
I have a son who is biracial. He has white texture hair, but it's very curly and dry like black hair. I use Nature's Baby Organics Lavendar Hair Conditioner. It's a leave-in or wash out kind. I wet his hair down and then put about a teaspoon amount in and then comb his hair. Do NOT wash her hair every night. In fact, I'd only wash her hair once a week. When I was washing my son's hair every other day it was too much. So I only do once a week. Hope this helps :)

My daughter is Chinese and Black and her hair is curly. When her hair is dry, I just wet it a little and put baby oil in her hair.

i'm really glad you asked this question! i wish I thought about asking it because ive been pretty clueless. My hair is rod straight and even then i dont know what to do with my hair. I'm white and the dad is black.
Her hair is really curly in some spots and kind of straight in others :) cute
So i spray her hair with just water ( you can get a mini spray bottle at walmart for $1)
and i use a wide tooth comb and comb through it and then use a small amount of johnsons detangling spray ( i dont like using a lot of the detangling spray-thats why i wet it first) and then use the wide tooth comb again and since the comb kind of lays it flat i fluff her curls up and then twirl her curls in my fingers. I hope this helps alittle but i'll be reading thr other responses to see if I'm even doing anything right :)
