Looking for Great Disney World Hotel

We are going to Disney World next summer, & I'm looking for a hotel. I've been looking on the Disney Resort website, & I'm confused a bit by all the hotels. Anyone stay there & love a certain hotel? Or despise one?

I would like one that is kid-friendly, has a neat pool with slides/lazy river/beach pool, & possibly a spa in the hotel.

Thanks!!

Get the Passporter Disney World Book, it's a great resource for planning and even has sheets to write all your plans. It also goes into great detail about every resort and pros/cons of each. If you go to Amazaon or the actual passporter website the book is probably much cheaper than going to a local bookstore.

As for hotels...think about your budget and that may narrow your search down a bit. From that search then you can determine which hotel has the amenities you want. I've stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort but it was so long ago all I remember was that it was a large resort and it sometimes took awhile to get a bus. In November we are staying at Port Orleans Riverside for the first time. We've stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter and it has a great swimming pool. The Beach Club Villas also have a nice pool and from there you can walk to both Epcot and MGM which is a plus. The other two places we've stayed are the Marriott Vacation Club and the Grovsner in Downtown Disney.

All the hotels at Disney are going to be kid friendly and the majority of them will have a pretty cool swimming area. Another good website to visit is www.allears.net, they have pictures and good reviews of the hotels also. Good luck on your search!

Check out www.disboards.com it is a really friendly message board website with people who go to Disney ALL of the time. they have a thread that is only about the Disney hotels and it has a wealth of info!!!! Also, on the Disney World website you can sign up for a free planning DVD. That should help too, it shows the hotels. We're going in 3 weeks!! Have fun!

Check out mousebuzz.com. They have tons of info from Disney fanatics and are happy to share! If you want the lazy river/pool experience...either Yacht Club/Beach Club (Deluxe)or Port Orleans Riverside (Moderate) are going to be your best bet. For more kid-friendly, go for the values...Pop Century, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, or All-Star Sports. We've stayed at AS Music and liked it, it's like a nice La Quinta or something along that line with Disney theming. On our next stay we will probably go for All-Star Movies because of the movie characters that are part of it, Toy Story is one of DS's favorites.
We took DS just after he turned 2. We weren't in the room much, even with him being so young...he just didn't wind down enough to nap! We would rather save money by staying in a Value resort and use that money for other things we want to do there. If you want to do the lazy river type thing, check out the waterparks.
Have a great time! Planning is part of the fun!

We stayed at the Grand Floridian and loved it. You have access to the monorail and the first stop is the Magic Kingdom. From the Magic Kingdom you can take a boat back. The boat ride was nice and relaxing. Our son loved it. We also payed extra to be in the main building with access to the concierge floor where there was complimentary food (hot and cold) and drinks all day long!! I think our 4 year old liked the hotel more than the parks. I hear the spa is amazing and if you really want to splurge, make dinner reservations for Victoria & Alberts. WOW~!!! Best meal I've ever had in my entire life!!! We used one of the recommended babysitting services for our son and it worked out great. She played chase and hide & seek w/him. They went for a walk around the hotel. It was a good vacation!

For all the time we spent in the room, we really liked the Pop Century, great little cafeteria! And I second the suggestion on allears.net. I also HIGHLY recommend the Disney Dining plan- some great perks & you definitely eat better & save money- just BOOK your sit-down meals EARLY.
