Looking for Dr./Specialist in Rib Abnormalities
This is a long shot, I know - but we must try. I have a friend who has an 18 year old autistic daughter. They have recently discoverd she has a rib abnormality - some of her ribs had been broken in the past and repaired themselves in an abnormal way, which is now causing problems.
Her doctors do not know what to do, as they've never seen it before, so now my friend is searching for any doctors that have seen this before & may be able to help treat.
So it's a long shot - but do any of you have any recommendations? Been through something similar? Thanks in advance - S.

I also recommend Scottish Rite...and if the doctors there don't know what to do for your friend's daughter, they will get on the phone and call other specialists around the country who do! It should not be a problem for her current doctors to write the referral to Scottish Rite.

She should check with Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital. They're specialists in bone and muscle disorders and they don't charge for the services:

BUT, she likely needs a referral, which should come from the doctors that are clueless.

Scottish Rite would have been amazing if she hadn't already turned 18! I'd suggest Dr. Viere in Dallas. He's truly a wonderful orthopedic specialist and nice man. My orthopedist from Scottish Rite highly recommended him to continue my care as an adult.
