Looking for Class for (Very Active) Young Toddler

i am looking for a class or group for my toddler (she's 21 months) that incorporates music, dancing, drawing, or tumbling. she loves all of these, so it doesn't really matter which one is the focus. i think she would especially enjoy tumbling b/c she has been trying to figure out tumbling on her own for awhile now (i've never seen a head or neck move the way her's does when she's attempting a somersault!). i've searched in the westerville rec center bulletin & the only one that was available was $125 for 6 weeks...a bit too much if you ask me, especially for her age. i'm hesitant to try Gymoboree b/c from what i've heard it turns into a mama & child fashion contest (i've never gone, so i don't really know from experience). we're just looking for something fun right now, nothing that will pressure her to perform or meet a standard, just a social time with perks!

so...does anyone know of a class or even an informal group that meets in the westerville area (or even just in the columbus area??)? i just want her to have an outlet to do these things & have fun. she is very social & loves playing with other kids (while i am a bit introverted...it's been a struggle to understand that she NEEDS to get out & be around people & kids nearly every day!). any suggestions?

thanks!!

Have you looked at The Little Gym? It's on Sancus Blvd, just south of Polaris. I've been taking my kids there since they were 2.5 and they love it (They are 5.5 now). The classes for that age are 45min, once a week and are parent child. They do offer a free trial.

If you don't mind traveling a little, look into other rec centers. Worthington has a lot of classes, and so do Powell and Dublin rec centers. If you search, you can proabably find their schedules online.

I went to one gymboree class. The kids and I really enjoyed it, we just couldn't get our schedule to work. If you go to their website usually you can get one class for free, then you can see if it's something you daughter would even be interested in.

Good Luck!

Try Columbus Parks and Recreation, their classes are cheap and they have a large variety. It's located just next to the Carriage Place shopping center on Sawmill. Sign up is a bit of a pain: you have to physically go there and sign up and pay.

They have parent-child classes for 2-3 year olds. The classes are 45 minutes long and the sessions run for 10 weeks. They also have a Toddler Play Date (moms must stay on the floor) which is an open gym time once a week, and a Kids' Morning OUt (drop off) one day a week for 2 1/2 year olds, also if you are enrolled in classes there is an open gym time on Friday nights.

Hi H.,

There is a great music/movement class called "WeJoySing". It meets once a week for half an hour and is parent/child interactive. Wonderful class! I know that classes are held in Westerville, but not sure of the location. Check out the web site www.wejoysing.com
