Hi Ladies,
I am looking for some fun activities to do with my just turned one year old son. He loves music and the water so I was thinking of swim lessons and or a kidermusic class where he can also interact with other children his age. We live in between Valpo and Portage but anywhere near by would work!! Thanks ahead of time for any help you can give!

What can I do next?

I take my almost 2-yr old daughter to a parent/child swim class at Allways Learning Center on Ransom Rd. She has come a long way and now really enjoys the class. It is for babies through age 2 1/2-3 yrs and is held at 5:30pm on Mondays. Ms. Ruth is a great teacher. It is affiliated with the YMCA, but a little less expensive. This session has already started, but there is room in the class with four more classes left. The number at Allways is ###-###-#### if you want more info. I have not been to any music classes in the area, so cannot offer any advice for that. Good luck!

My sister just finished a 7 week mommy & baby swim class @ the Valpo YMCA. She paid $75 (non-member)for the 1-day per week for 7 weeks. You may want to check them out. They are opening the new YMCA sometime in April. My sister just signed up for another class (1&2yr old mom & baby "play" class)and it starts May 4th in the new building. Goodluck!

Valpo YMCA has parent child swim classes. The library has some fun parent child stuff...Chesterton Libraries are great! Valpo library starts at 18mos or 2 yrs I think. There are moms clubs all over too. MOMS Club of Valparaiso meets the first Wednesday of the month at TLC right across from the YMCA. They are not part of the church, just use the space to have the general meeting. There is also a Mothers and More group. I met a few ladies from that group who are very nice. They have free story time at Barnes and Noble in Valpo on Monday and Friday. There are often characters there. I think Gymboree closed in Valpo on 30, but if not, they had a music class. Good luck.

OH, and you are not crazy. I had mine 19 mos apart and it was a challenge, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it now! The older they get, the better it is and the more grateful I am we did it this way. They are close and both able to do the same things and at the same stage. LOVE LOVE it!!

Let me know if you find a music class too. There is a kindercare in Griffith, but I live in Hobart (near portage) and didn't want to go that far.
