I'm wondering if anybody has an OB GYN that they are really impressed with in the Tulsa metro area that they would like to recommend? I've been wanting to change mine for awhile but just haven't found a better option yet. I'd like to hear some feedback about a prospective doctor first before seeing them, if possible! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I like a Warren Clinic group (51st and Harvard). There is a group of 4 Dr's. When you are pregnant you see each one atleast once (unless you are high risk). That way you have atleast met them if they are on call when you deliver. I used this group when I had my son. I will say they are somewhat old fashion about things. One ultrsound, two people in delivery and normal delivery(nothing unique like water birhts) and ect. I asked one of them about this and he said that they have been birthing babies longer than I have been alive and seen to many complications to take a chance. I really agree.

Then my insurance changed with my daughter and I thought that I wanted a different "type" of dr. She was a good DR out of Broken Arrow. But the ONLY reason she was the DR that delivered was because I was induced. WHICH SHE DID WONDERFULLY.

It really depends what you are looking for. Do you want a Dr who will know when you deliver? Most Dr's are in some type of on call group. Do you want a viewing center or have water deliver or something unique like that when you give birth? (the dr has to be willing and able to deliver at a center rather than a hospital.)

I just moved back to Oklahoma but when I lived here before I went to Dr. Lori Hubbard with Tulsa Women's Health Group. They are across from St. John's on Wheeling I think it is. She was great and I also liked the other doctors in the practice. I never had to wait too long when I had an appointment. Dr. Hubbard was great to have as a doctor when I went through a very difficult pregnancy and eventual loss of child.

Hello,

Dr. John R. Thompson, he is located in the Kelly building, at 66th and Yale. I am no longer with him, because of insurance changes. However, he is the best. I lost a baby when I was 24 weeks. I was immediately admitted to the hospital, for three days in was in and out checking on me. He made sure I was comfortable, and being cared for. On my third night, the forced induce was still not working, it was late afternoon on a Friday. He tried something else, and it kicked in with a vengeance. He sat by my bed and held my hand off and on for over three hours, until I could dilate enough for the baby to be removed. The point of what I am saying is anyone, any intern, could have done what he did. The baby was already gone, it was the weekend, and he wasn't on call. And he made the decision to sit by my bed, hold my hand, and comfort me when I cried. And none of this did I even expect. He is a great OB GYN.

I think he's number is ###-###-####.

Good Luck!!

P.S. He's office staff is awesome as well. Shawn has been with him for years.

I see Dr Cole Nilson at Tulsa Women's Health Care. It's at 101st and Yale. He is AMAZING! He has delivered all 3 of my kids and will be delivering #4 next month. He has 2 partners that are also wonderful. They are all very funny and make each visit a breeze. I've never been uncomfortable with any procedure in their office. When you are pregnant, you get an ultrasound at every visit because they have machines in every room and its part of the routine. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My dad is an OB/Gyn, and he's an excellent doctor. He was in the Oklahoma Best of the Best magazine not too long ago. He is very up to date on all new procedures, in fact he does a hysterectomy procedure (which I'm sure you don't need now) called a CISH that no other doctor in Oklahoma that I know of does...only a handful of doctors in the country know this procedure.

He is an EXCELLENT OB as well, I used to work for him for 4 years. He is very personable and friendly. His name is Dr. Joseph R. Johnson and he works at OSU. He's an assistant professor there and works in the physician clinic.

Now, I'm not from Oklahoma originally, so I don't know if thats the Tulsa Metro Area?! If its more South Tulsa, I heard the group at Birth and Beyond at 101st and Yale are pretty good, I've never been there.

Hope that helps.

Dr. Gary Freeman! I love this man. He is At Southcrest Hospital, and I don't have the number on me now but I know you can find it in the phonebook. I had 2 children and a miscarriage before I went to him, he is the only Dr I have ever been to that actually CARES about the outcome of a pregnancy, I was not just another patient to him I was a person. He took into account my feelings and comfort level when I asked him to induce me, he found out why I was miscarrying babies and I believe he saved my daughters life while I was pregnant. He is also the only Dr I have ever had that can talk and take your mind off of the fact that he is preforming a papsmear...lol!

Dr. Heather Summers with Contemporary Women's Specialist at 65th and Yale is AWSOME!!! I was having a normal pregnancy when I ended up in the hospital at 7.5 months with Pre-eclamsia and HELLP syndrome. I was in the hospital for 8 days and she was there every morning to check on my and give me updates. She really listens to you and answers any and all questions. The nurseline makes it easy to get a hold of them during the day. The staff is extremely nice and her nurse Christin is soooo sweet. I've heard wonderful things about the other doctors in the office also. Hope this helps and goodluck! Her number is ###-###-####

I LOVE Dr. Robert Aikman (Dr. Bob). He is at Tulsa Harvard Family Associates, ###-###-#### (I think). His nurses are tops, that is important to me because you spend so much time with the nurses. I was amazed that he would always respond to my calls, always listened, and has a kind bad side manner. Besides being a top M.D., he is also trained as a midwife. He is one of the few doctors in town that will still perform vbac. He is awesome.
