HELP! Pregnant and Looking for OB/GYN

I know this has probably been asked countless times before, but I really need a recommendation for a good OB/GYN -- okay, the truth is I've been going to one of the doctors that came "highly recommended", but unfortunately although he seems nice, I feel so rushed during the appointment -- I swear he only saw me for 5 minutes the last time - I had a couple of questions and I was barely able to aim it his way (the last one his hand was already on the doorknob). My last doctor was so patient and calm- but she's in another state- can anyone give me a recommendation? THANKS!!!!

What can I do next?

I see Dr. Tran at St. Francis and I LOVE her! I've also heard good things about her associates. Some friends at work go to Dr. Thompson, also at St. Francis, and they really like him, too.
Good luck!

I second Tulsa Women's Health Care! I see Dr. Jay Williamson there and LOVE HIM. I wish he could be my primary doctor! I also have friends that have seen Dr. Nilson and Dr. Sterling and each doctor is very, highly recommended. I love that you get a ultrasound at each visit and each time you step through the doors I felt that the front office staff, nurses, behind the scenes folks and doctors were always helpful, happy and caring. You can tell that people enjoy working there. They also can do your lab work on site, so you don't have to drive around town to have that done. I really can't say enough nice things about these people. I had another OB when I found out I was pregnant and he didn't do ultrasounds, onsite lab test and the cherry was he decided he wouldn't deliver at a hospital he used too. So, I asked around and my girlfriend was adamant I go to Dr. Williamson! As I kept asking around it seemed like everyone I knew goes to either him, Dr. Nilson or Dr. Sterling. I know families that have had Dr. Williamson, Dr. Nilson and Dr. Sterling deliver their babies and they all are very happy with them! Good luck and congrats!!!

J M,
Hello. I recommend Dr. R.C. Elliott (at South Tulsa Women’s Clinic). Not sure that he's taking on new patients, but you can ask. I would recommend that you meet with any OB/GYN first before you decide – like a physician consultation (if they still do this). I have lots of friends that really love Dr. Cole Nielson, but that wasn't the best choice for me, he always seemed too rushed for me. So, I was willing to not have an ultrasound every visit to feel listened too, get my questions answered and have a calm experience. We all have our preferences, so it's just finding the right fit for you. Best of luck to you.

I agree with one of the responses about Dr. Nilson. Great Dr. but extremely busy. I waited over an hour to see him for 5 minutes and usually caught him as he was leaving the room to ask any questions. Dr. AIkman is a great Dr. but I am not sure he is taking OB anymore. He does have a female back up- Dr. Sanders or Sanderson I think it is. She is highly recommended as well. I know both will also work with you if you want a natural child birth experience or want to work with a midwife. Nilson prefers his patients get epidurals.

Hi
I loved Dr Adam Myers. He's a family practician, so you aren't guaranteed to find him under OB/GYN. He was fabulous! My first pregnancy was with another "highly recommended" female doctor in town... I ended in Cesarian. I looked for a female doctor who would allow me to have a VBAC, at 20 weeks into my second pregnancy, I found Dr. Myers.
He was patient and kind, never rushing! I didn't think I would like having a male doctor, but his bedside manner was so fabulous that I've actally changed to him for my primary care physician!
Good luck & I hope this helps.
Oh! Dr. Myers is at South Crest.

Dr Cole Nilson is AMAZING!!! He is at Tulsa Women's Health Care at 101st & Yale. His number is ###-###-####. He has been my OB/GYN for over 8 years and has delivered all 4 of my babies. He is absolutely hilarious and makes every appt. a blast. But he knows when to be serious and pay attention. My first 2 pregnancies were high risk with my first having Down Syndrome. Dr Nilson was wonderful through the whole thing, so compassionate. Oh and he does an ultrasound at EVERY visit!! I knew what I was having by 16 weeks with each of them (12 wks with one of them). He will deliver at either St Francis or at SouthCrest. You should really try him out! You won't regret it. Good luck and congratulations!!
