Looking for a Great Pediatric Dentist

Hi,

I'm looking for a wonderful pediatric dentist for my two children 6 & 3. We were seeing Dr. Shamsi Bhanji in Northgate, but found out insurance only covers 80%. We weren't thrilled with her anyway. Any recommendations in North Seattle or Shoreline area?

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

It may be too far for you to go, but we have a great pediatric dentist in Kirkland. He and his staff are REALLY wonderful. My kids actually ENJOY going there and they actually have met or exceeded all of my expectations for a pediatric dentist, which is a rarity these days. (Not that my expectations are so high, just that I'm usually disappointed by services, including medical related ones in today's day.)

Here's his info just in case:

Kirkland Children's Dentistry
Dr. Clint Worton DDS

Suite 102
Kirkland, WA 98034

Good luck! :o)

Hi S.,

We go to dr. Aylen at the Northgate Dental building (on 5th NE, just north of Northgate way). She is very friendly and gentle, as is everyone I've ever met in that office. My son is still too young for regular dental check-ups but we're planning to take him there as well. She is the mom of a 4 year old boy so I think she can relate well to having young kids go to the dentist. You should give them a call to find out for sure, but I think they take all major insurance plans. Her full name is Dr. Karla Aylen and Dr. Smart is at that office as well, although he mostly is retired now.

Good luck!

I really like Dr. Marks.. Both my kids love their office and it is easy to get to. Also on a side note I used to see Dr. Davis growing up for 18 years that worked there but he has retired. I wouldn't go anywhere else they are the best and really know what they are doing.

I don't know if he specializes in pediatrics, but Dr. Ronald Groeshel in Shoreline tends to our whole family, including our kids who are 5 and 7. (They've been going since they were 4.) It's nothing fancy but he's nice and so is his whole staff.

I second Alison's recommendation of Dr. Thomas in Bellevue. We take our 3 kids there, and he's great. He's down-to-earth and won't recommend invasive procedures or braces just because of minor imperfections. He's got the latest in digital equipment.
Additionally - we went through a rough patch last year when we had to put our kids on the WA state insurance plan (Basic Health), and he was the only dentist around who would see our kids. (The others "didn't make enough money" with this insurance). In addition to being a great dentist, he's also compassionate.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Thomas at NW Pediatric Dentistry in Bellevue. (www.nwpedo.com) I see that several others have also recommended him. He has made a commitment to bringing quality dental care to all kids, so he takes all insurance plans. He also spends a portion of his time (I think 1 or 2 days a week) providing free care to underprivileged kids in clinics. We have been impressed with the quality of care our daughter has received, with his philosophy of care, and with his commitment to the community. I know it's a drive (we live in Magnolia), but for two times a year it is completely worth it.

Dr. Smutka is AWESOME. I couldn't find a good pediatric dentist for a long time and I searched around a lot and this guy was repeatedly recommended by a number of people. My son thinks his last name sounds funny but he loves him. He is great with kids and he's apparently a very well-respected dentist by his peers. He's wonderful.

Hi S.,

Our dentist in downtown Edmonds is not specifically pediatric, but he is great with kids. He's a dad of young kids himself and understands how to relate to them. My 3 yr old son has had one check up with an exam only and testing out the chair and tools so far and has been asking to go back, so I think we'll try for a full cleaning next time.

His name is Dr. Brian Cave and the office, Dayton Dental, is on the corner of Dayton and 5th in Edmonds, just a block or so from the library and Frances Anderson Center. They're very friendly and accomodating for kids.

I have been taking my kids to Factoria Pediatric Dentistry to see Dr. Jimmy Yun for 4 years now. It is in Bellevue. I drive there from south everett. My kids love going to the dentist. He and his staff are wonderful. If you can't find anyone you like that is closer, it might be worth the drive for you. The phone number is ###-###-#### and their website is www.fpddds.com

Probably a little too far, but we took our daughter (now 19 months old) to Dr. Thomas at NW Pediatric Dentistry in Bellevue. We were blown away by the very kid-centric office and his approach to working with us and our daughter. It is an office that is focused on creating a positive relationship with kids when it comes to their teeth and going to the dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Thomas to anyone who considers Bellevue a reasonable option.
