My daughter is just a week shy of 5 mos and we need to get her portrait done. Please recommend your favorite place and it's location. Also, if you could include the cost, that would be great. If there are any places you would NOT recommend, please list them, too. Thanks!

What can I do next?

hi kiran...
i use to work at a portrait studio. so i would recommened where i worked at kiddie kandids. they are good. i worked there for two years and was even the ast. manager... not alot of people are there still from when i worked there but its still good. my friends always take me with them when they take thier kids as i very critical of pics and how it should be done right. im trying to get a something going when i can take pics at my house as i know how to do them professionally. i use to pose 15 to 20 people in one pic.
hopefully this will help but if you still have questions or need any more info. feel free to contact me. kiddie kandids is at arrowhead mall.. the prices of the sheets are 15 a sheet and they also have packages there. i read the other responses and from my point of view i only take my kids to kiddie kandids and target studio, as they are the only two that have the good quality.

They best that I have been too is Kiddy Kandids. Their prices are good and they do not charge a sitting fee. I have been wanted to go to Portrait Innovations. They do great work. You can check out their web site at PortraitInnovations.com They have two locations in the valley.

Hi!
We were using JCPenney at Arrowhead, however the last time we were there the customer service was HORRIBLE! So I would not recommend them at all. We went to JCPenney at Paradise Valley and they were very nice. If you go online to JCPenney portraits, you can print coupons for 3.99 or 4.99 sheets. They also have coupons in various childrens/parents magazines. Make sure you have a coupon with you when you go, b/c they won't let you pay when you pick up the portraits or reimburse you for a coupon. If you have a coupon, their prices are very reasonable. If you join their portrait club for 14.99, that eliminates all sitting fees for about 2 years, so if you're going to get her picture taken several times, it is worth it b/c the sitting fee is 9.99 per time. We've also used Kiddie Kandids at Arrowhead. We were very happy with them also, but they are a lot more expensive. They do have more props and their pictures are a little more sophisticated, so we do them for milestones, like birthdays; and Penney's for just regular portraits (6mo, 9mo, 18 mo, etc).
Good luck!

I personally prefer Walmart. I know it may not seem as classy but the price is wonderful and you can go back as much as you want to. My family even got our Christmas picture there once and the pictures turned out great. There was no wait and the photographer was very friendly. At places like JC Penny they make you take a bunch of extra pictures and pressure you to buy the expensive packages.

Hi Kiran,

I agree with your other response. Sears is the best and JC Penney is the worse. Walmart is okay, but not as nice. Went to Target once and didn't like that much. I have a 20 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. I have taken many pictures throughout the years.

I hope you have many good years of picture taking.

I have always had a great experience with Sears. I get coupons in the mail all the time. JC Penny on the other hand is terrible, atleast the one at PV MAll. The Sears we go to is also at PV Mall. Of course there are Picture People too, they are very good, but expensive.

I would have to disagree with the other responses. We used to go to Sears, but now they print the picutres on site with a computer printer. The quality of the pictures has gone way downhill. They are very fuzzy and dark. The staff at Arrowhead has are rude and don't seem to know what they are doing. We tried the JC Penny at Arrowhead and we where very pleased with the pictures we received. They print them in a lab and we have gotten many compliments on out most recent family picture. They have coupons for $3.99 a sheet and that's a great deal. I also would not recommend Wal Mart, as I have heard that over the years their pictures fade and yellow, because they don't use very good photo paper. We have also been very pleased with Olan Mills, they are inside of KMART and they do a great job. All in all, remmeber you get what you pay for!

My daughter just turned 4 last month, and every since she was 3 weeks old she has been going to The Picture People to have her pictures done. We go about 3 times a year. We use the one at Arrowhead Mall. There is no sitting fee and it is $18.00/page. However, if you go to thier website and sign up they have a club (I think it is called Smiles Club) where from the time of birth through thier first year you get a free 8x10 every 3 months. I have never had any complaints about them and they do well with my daughter since she is pretty shy and takes her a while to feel comfortable with them. The worst place I have ever been for pictures was JC Penney in Arrowhead Mall.
